    Surprised we havent seen a flood of tools for Ford V8 valve work ..... no valve clearance adjustment ,the valve has to be ground to length........valve guides in two pieces pulled out with valve and spring .......many unusual features in these marvellous engines scarcely believable today.

    A while ago ,I replaced the head gasket on my Thailand built Ford pickup ...........I was very pleasantly surprised to find all the exhaust studs and nuts were a rustproof material ,with no trace of corrosion or jamming when unscrewed .

    I once torqued a row of 3/8 unc bolts on a Caterpillar head to 100 ft lbs ,like the rest of the 1/2 bolts .......none of them broke or stripped ,and I redid them to 30 ft lbs ......of course they were Caterpillar bolts.

    OP claims weld zone was cleaned in #1 ...dirty metal already suggested at #3 and denied .....I once had a big diesel engine sump welded by a ''top professional'' he ignored suggestions it was magnesium ,and welded with aluminium filler .....then claimed it was '''dirty metal''

    Some bolt makers supply in between sizes .....41 is a common size as its Budd wheel nut size ,but normally a special deep socket to take the square inner wheel nut on duals ......which is outdated tech with aluminium wheels

    Which tool sizes metric and SAE are literally the same like same tool dies used but different logos? 3/4 and 19? Any more?

    If the sockets are the wavy flank drive type ,they are a lot more tolerant of size difference ..........I recently bought a Force brand (Taiwan) set that are universal ,the set has all metric sizes ,no skips ,and inch from 3/8 to 11/16..........the old Metrinch sets were claimed to be both...

    Incidentally ,for actual standard metric bolts ,you only need 19, 24 ,30 ,36 ,46 .........those are the standard bolt sizes .
