Looking for recommendations on a wall mounted shop vac

To add to this, there are always some central vacs in Amazon Warehouse or as Amazon Renewed right around the $300 mark. I don't have experience with these, but it is what I plan to do when our garage is ready. Just have to add a hose kit and some piping...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Southern CA Garage/Shop/Guesthouse Build

Thanks! Yes, it is surprising how the details add up in cost quick! We picked up a little side project for the kitchen. We got this used Wolf 36" range for much less than half the cost of a new one. It appears to work just fine, it just needs a little TLC. I don't think the previous owners...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Southern CA Garage/Shop/Guesthouse Build

Back downstairs the garage door guy got the last panel of the door in and mounted the Liftmaster 8500w openers. He didn't quite finish the installation as we don't have the building powered yet. Meanwhile, I started getting the garage lights hung. Everyone keeps giving me a hard time for how...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Southern CA Garage/Shop/Guesthouse Build

Overdue for an update here, let's see what I can get through by memory: Quartz counters were delivered and installed, which wasn't an easy task for the crew. It really made me appreciate the fact that if they broke it, it was on them and not me. Shortly after the countertops were in, the...

    Full view garage doors

We have a Clopay Avante and love it so far. To be honest though, we aren't living in the house yet, so all we know is the look and feel of it. If it remember correctly, it was just over $4,000 installed with powder coated track (which we now wish we went with black, and high-lift...).

    Homeowner grade Laser level

In that photo, the reflective material you see is the foil lined roof sheathing(above the attic). The line was being used on the 2x4 bottom cord of the trusses to line up the recessed lights, and it shows up great on the 2x4's.

Thanks for the compliments! We are really excited about those garage doors. Over the weekend we had 150 tons of road base delivered for the driveway. That's six trips of transfer dump trucks, I bet the neighbors thought we started a strip mine or rock quarry in the backyard. After spreading...

    Homeowner grade Laser level

Here is this laser just being used as a straight line on the ceiling. This vaulted ceiling goes from 9' to about 13' tall. The laser level is sitting on the floor and it was a sunny day in a room with large windows on two sides. The only time it has been grainy for me is long distances(over...

    Homeowner grade Laser level

I will add that I do sometimes wish I had a third laser to put two lines on the ceiling at a right angle. Now I see that the same company has a 3x360 unit for around the same price, oddly enough. I don't know if it is a lower model in terms of brightness or what...

    Homeowner grade Laser level

I got this one last year and haven't had any issues. I have even used it just after the sun goes down for driveway grading markers at about 40-50' from the unit. It's not bright in that situation, but it worked. For indoor, it is perfectly bright...

    2020 Lowe's deals/sales/clearance thread

Thanks guys! Picked up 4 of those 100' cords, at this store they were on the very bottom but not near any tag or marker on the shelf. I didn't find them until I asked a store worker.

After some downtime, we are finally making progress again. The kitchen cabinets are 90% installed, waiting on countertop installation to finish up. Garage doors are installed and we LOVE them. We made sure to specify when we ordered them that we wanted the track to hug the ceiling with just...

    Deformable lighting?

When I read "deformable" I thought I was going to see a conversation about this kind of $$$ thing: https://www.diodeled.com/neon-blaze.html

Building retaining wall and prep for shop, what do you wish you had done beforehand?

This is very true and a good point. Hence the serpentine brick walls.

Building retaining wall and prep for shop, what do you wish you had done beforehand?

It sounds like you have thought of pretty much everything you would need. All I would add is to waterproof the backside of the wall then drain it well. Our wall was painted with a super thick waterproof coating(I forget the name) and we have 4" PVC in a burrito about 16" diameter of drain rock...

The Official Stall Mat Discussion Thread & Gallery

We have bought, installed, and moved many of these throughout the years for our horse stalls. They're easiest to move with two people(duh. Or the tractor...), carry them from the middle of a short side and let it fold down in half like an upside down taco. It is much easier than trying the 4...

Help with ceiling boxes for lights

Yes, we left enough slack to make the connections in the lights, not in the box. I like your idea, if I can’t figure out a way to have the lights directly lined up I’ll do that. This is my first thought as well, I’m just hoping the blank wall plate doesn’t protrude enough to keep the light...

Help with ceiling boxes for lights

That doesn't seem right... I can't have romex just penetrating the drywall straight into a fixture. From my understanding, accessibility with hand tools is still considered accessible, unscrew the fixture from the ceiling, the cover from the box, and there it is.

Help with ceiling boxes for lights

I need something like this but two gang, and ideally not convex. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Single-Gang-Handy-Box-Cover-with-1-2-in-Knockouts-25-Pack-861/202058330

Help with ceiling boxes for lights

I tried this. That screw pattern does not line up with the 4 screw holes on the mud ring(intended for a switch plate cover). This would go directly on the 4" metal box, not the mud ring. :(
