    Covebase Gap

I saw the title of your post and it reminded me that I need to search for pictures on Google on how to finish the base of my drywall at the 2-4" concrete curb. While I was Googling I came across this, and thought it might be what you are looking for. I have no experience with this vendor and I...

I agree! We did our own drywall ONCE. Hung it on a master bedroom addition ourselves. The room had build in shelves, an arch, tray ceiling, you name it and it was there. It took us over a week of evenings and weekends to hang it. Finally finished and called this friend to come mud it...

All in a day's work. The garage will get a second layer on the ceiling after the first layer is inspected, then the top of the walls can be finished. Upstairs is pretty much ready for nailing inspection and tape. It sure is nice to see the shape of the house beyond framing and a good imagination.

They might, I'm not sure. We are a "small job" for them I'll tell you that much. It is LJH Inc Drywall out of Camarillo.

Drywall is going up, this is about 2 hours of work for these guys. This is a friend's company and crew, we have used them multiple times and are always impressed at their speed and quality of work. Two qualities that often don't come together.

:Homer: Doh! I'm sorry, I'm sure you'll love them just as much as I love these. I spent a little more time on Barnlight Electric's website yesterday, I'm going to have to work one of those retro wall-clocks into my garage somehow. I hadn't seen those before.

Sorry, I am an idiot. I was comparing the lights from Barn Lighting Electric Co. and Steel Lighting Co. when we were shopping. The lights I actually got are from Steel Lighting Co., and I love them. BUT, I have heard great things about Barn Lighting Electric as well. At least I know...

Of course! It is Barn Light Electric Company. Apparently they are based out of Florida, I must have been thinking of someone else out of CA(my handrail coming soon I think!). I also try to get USA-made as much as I can, especially for nice pieces like light fixtures and handrails...

Electrical and plumbing signed off, time to start insulating. I spent quite a few hours going around with spray foam and sealing off penetrations and gaps (the spray foam gun was a wise tool investment!). We went with Rockwool, all exterior walls are r-23, while the garage ceiling joists and...

Seamless and over sized rain gutters were installed. It doesn't rain much in CA, but when it does I wanted these to be able to handle it with ease. In addition, we could only do one downspout on each side (68' runs), so the additional capacity will help and the additional width in gutter...

We went with Sherwin Williams LOXON primer and Super Paint, in a "almost gray" white. Fast forward a little, and we got the deck posts/beams painted and some light fixtures up. All this was happening on the outside while we continued to chip away at rough electrical inside. I think I...

Meanwhile, we got hit with some really high winds and our under-built roof blew off our horse corrals like a sheet in the wind. Notice there are no supports from the ridge beam to the top plate of the wall, or purlins. After is sat like this for a couple months, we finally had time to...

Well, looks like I have a lot of updating to do! I didn't realize it has been so long. I'll just zip through from where I left off to where we are today. We got siding up. We decided to mix it up at the last minute and add some vertical board and batten to break it up some. I'm so glad we...

Man, that's a killer deal! No inventory near me unfortunately. Building a new house and as you said these are required now, I could save a lot of money with that pricing.

The rest of the windows have been installed and they got it wrapped this week. The deck coating was also applied, minus the final top color coat. Siding will go up next week, then the outside will look like a complete house. Inside, there is still a lot of work for us to do. This window is...

Thanks! It might be overkill in a wall that is going to be closed up, but it makes me happy.
