    Well it's happening...my 48x60 build

Thanks you guys! Slodat, you're the reason I have my lighting controls set up the way I do. I can't take any credit for it at all, but thank you! My illuminated momentary pushbuttons came in the mail today. Thought it would look nice to have a white light to guide me to each switch when I...

Wall insulation in finished metal building

Awesome, could you post your quote numbers when you get them? I'm curious how much it changes based on locations. And thank you!

    Ceiling Fans in Garage

I have 3 Menards 56" industrial ceiling fans all wired to a single speed control. They are hung down the center of the shop. Actually just got them running last week and at their lowest setting they have the faintest hum to them. I'd say they're right at 60 rpm or so and help keep the air...

Wall insulation in finished metal building

FYI, I had 2 quotes to do my shop and they both came out at $1.23 per square foot per inch thickness for closed cell. I had 1" sprayed to seal the walls and am filling the cavities with fiberglass prior to installing metal siding on the interior. Pics in the link in my signature.

    Gas shop heater..

Good read. I followed the advice, installing mine aimed 45 degrees out of a corner towards the opposite corner of the shop. I like where it's located and have no regrets.

Sensor to disable mini-split in cold?

Regarding your 2nd question, yes, you can purchase a temp controller which is basically a thermostat that works at a wider temperature range that can be wired to disable the heat signal when the temps hit whatever setpoint you have it set for. For example, you can run your inside thermostat...

    Vehicle Maintenance Log

I use the front of my beer fridge in my garage as a dry erase board to keep track of when vehicles are due for oil change.

    Well it's happening...my 48x60 build

Light night was very productive after a 13 hour day at work. My lighting contactor is in and my lights are hooked up. I still need to source a few illuminated pushbutton switches so I can locate them in a dark shop. Also pulled wire to my ceiling fans, installed the rotary knob for the speed...

    New build w/high bays

Thanks Leland, check out the link in my signature to see how I’m finishing my interior. The concrete will be bare other than the sealer that was used after it was poured. It looks spotty in the pic because the concrete hadn’t released all of ya moisture yet. It’s much more uniform in color...

Yeah the oil is so dark I can’t see into the reservoir. I need to order filters and perform a full service on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

stevelh, I quoted the following post because these are the fixtures I have in my 48x64 shop with 14' flat ceilings. I installed 20 of them and you can follow this link to see how it turned out in my build thread.

    Well it's happening...my 48x60 build

Struggled with the scissor lift tonight not wanting to run in reverse. Nearly ran it into my newly sided wall. It has had this intermittent issue since I've had it at the shop but tonight it wouldn't come out of it. I had a hunch that it was a hydraulic issue and found this piece of metal...

    Propane sticker shock

Yes, electricity may cost $.10 per kwh at low usage levels. However, there are price brackets in many localities that will drive the cost per kwh of electricity up at higher consumption levels (like resistance heating applications), making alternative heating methods cheaper. Here in Ohio, the...

    Propane sticker shock

With the popularity of natural gas in populated areas I can see why propane is not in high demand. That said, that's just plain highway robbery at $5/gal.

Local man killed in outdoor wood burner explosion

I've used a Central Boiler outside wood burner for the last 5 years as the only heat source for my home. With a 400 gallon on-board water storage and another 400 gallon aux storage tank in my attached garage, there's no need to allow the fire to go out. As a matter of fact, once it's lit in...

    Well it's happening...my 48x60 build

Well not much good news as of late. The stomach bugs have been through the house as all 3 of us have been sick over the past week. To finish out the week of hell, my grandpa passed away. So progress has been slow but I'll update where I'm at. I was able to get my ceiling fans installed...
