    The $11 Trailer Project

The first thing I have done to the trailer thus far is give it a thorough pressure washing. It had a fair amount of mud caked in the back bumper, and lichen was growing on its sides. I'm sure the trailer hadn't been moved in years prior to my purchasing it. Here are some before pics...

    The $11 Trailer Project

I recently picked up a trailer made from the bed of a 1970s Datsun pickup. I got it at auction for a whopping $11. Here are some photos from when I first saw the trailer on the auction website. I think the amount of junk in the trailer contributed to the lack of bids people were making on...

On a scale of 1-10, how ugly is my house?

Your concept is reminiscent of what my dad designed for the house we lived in when I was a kid. It worked extremely well for us. Kept us noisy teenagers and our friends upstairs so my parents had a kid-free sanctuary downstairs at the other end of the house. It allowed us to go from a tiny...

Oscillating multi-tools, what can they be used for?

I bought one of the HF ones (it's the one with adjustable speed; I think it's blue) several years ago. It's first task was to cut back damaged wood siding so that I could patch it. Perfect tool for the job! I had to fix a couple of hinges on a door the other day because the screw holes were...

    Hard Cases for Dewalt tools

I see empty Dewalt cases at thrift stores and pawn shops. Sometimes they are even free at the pawn shop.

Is it okay to wash a paper wet dry vac filter?

I blow them out with the air compressor before washing them, and haven't seen any issues. I don't let the filter soak in the water, of course. It also depends upon the quality (i.e. thickness) of the filter, I've noticed.

    Carbon monoxide means new furnace?

I agree on the cracked heat exchanger. This past spring we had a 25-year old furnace that needed replacing anyway, and when the tech was checking the old one for how big a furnace we needed, he measured a bit more carbon monoxide than was desired. Luckily for us this was at the end of the...

    Weed wacker storage

I remove the attachment from my Troy-Bilt 4-stroke trimmer and set the power head horizontally on top of some cabinets I have in the shed. This avoids fuel leaks and oil leaks. I hang the attachments on a double hook like others have shown, though I do really like the hanger cap option that...

Columbian Vise Jaw Insert Replacements - Help Needed

I recently picked up a Columbian vise and am looking for replacement jaw inserts for it. I paid $15, so I'm not into it for all that much money yet. I am hoping the collective knowledge of the GJ can help me out on finding these jaw inserts, as well as finding out how old the vise itself might...

Ariens rocket tiller furrow attachment help?

I've got one of those tillers, but unfortunately don't have that same attachment. My first thought is that it would attach to the depth shoe somehow utilizing that large hole in the wings...but that is only a guess. I haven't seen one of those furrowers in person. I can't find any images...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

All I did in the garage today was air up the tires in the snowblower...that I've used once this "winter". Replaced a few dead light bulbs in the Silverado, too. Sometimes it's good to be a hoarder...didn't have to buy new bulbs...had all I needed in the parts drawers. Had some QST with the...

Tools you bought but don’t use?

I have way too many woodworking tools that I have purchased over the years, but have never used...yet. Dewalt planer, Rockwell jointer, Craftsman belt/disc sander, Craftsman scroll saw...the list goes on. But...like others have said, at least I have them if/when I need them.
