The dilemma of the GJ Mindset

sounds like you need to build a new frame for your new steel table top so you have a proper place to build flag pole mounts. At some point you'll probably need a new shop to make sure your new table doesn't get rusty outside.

The dilemma of the GJ Mindset

While you're at it that table could stand to be sanded and resealed

    Small concrete order

This is how I do it. For 10-15 bags at a time I get help loading to the back of the truck bed then just pull each bag down into the mixer or wheelbarrow. I never lift a bag other than moving them around a bit when loading and the mixing is fast.

    Cattle tank Hot-tub off-grid

Oh yeah, heating water with purely resistive heat and solar is not going to be cost effective. The camplux water heaters run on propane but they need to see water pressure coming in before they will light. The solar I was referring to was only to run a little RV pump. Seems to work well for...

    Cattle tank Hot-tub off-grid

Nope, no confusion here. You said you're "off-grid period" and asked "howso??" about how solar panels can heat water. I then explained how you can set up a system heat your stock tank using a camplux water heater. I think we're at a dead end here. Your original idea will work and you seem...

    Cattle tank Hot-tub off-grid

your panels keep your battery topped off, your battery powers a 12v RV water pump and your water pump feeds pressure to a camplux water heater.

    Cattle tank Hot-tub off-grid

I live "off-grid. period." Before I moved to the property full time I camped here for years and gradually improved systems. 2 - 100w solar panels, a basic charge controller and an old battery and you will have 12v to anything you'd like. I specifically used mine to power a 12v pump to pump...

    Cattle tank Hot-tub off-grid

What about a camplux water heater and a 12v pump to recirculate water through the heater? Then you have the heater and pump to use for a shower as well. It's not as simple as your original idea but nothing is.

    Barn floor ideas

That's a cool barn! What condition is the roof in? You're likely to get a range of responses here with one of the first ones being "talk to an engineer". You certainly have a challenge here to figure out if you should do something more basic and temporary or if you're in it for the long term...

    Cattle tank Hot-tub off-grid

Your idea should work just fine as long as your pipe isn't touching the tank directly and making a hot spot that would burn your skin. Your idea also has the benefit of less holes in the tank. Just make sure to chase the rodents out of the pipe before you start it up Lots of ways to do it. I...

thermosyphon as recommended above. Google "Herms Coil Kit". You can bascially buy everything you need from a homebrew supply store.

What wire should I use, buried in conduit? THHN, USE-2, MH Feeder, XHHW?

The discussion was to have the shed be fed from the main 200A breaker and we didn't discuss how to split power to the shop or future house. Because I'm going in phases with this project where Phase 1 is the shed/solar system, Phase 2 is power to shop I figured at Shed final I'd clarify how he...

What wire should I use, buried in conduit? THHN, USE-2, MH Feeder, XHHW?

No doubt. I haven't figured out how to weld and run the table saw at the same time but I always think about how it would be nice to have a dust collection system for my wood shop, a CNC Plasma table, a 3d printer and a fridge, mini split and small compressor that all kick on intermittently. It...

What wire should I use, buried in conduit? THHN, USE-2, MH Feeder, XHHW?

I haven't done any load calcs for the house and realistically that will be 4-5 years away before that build is complete. The shop is done now. For the house I am planning a heat pump water heater and dryer (if they improve over that time) and for heat I am going to do in-floor radiant w/propane...

What wire should I use, buried in conduit? THHN, USE-2, MH Feeder, XHHW?

This means that according to EG4 you can run up to 16 of these inverters in parallel. I currently have 4 and never have any intention of running 16. My intention is to build a system where I future proof on the AC side but add or upgrade inverters as needed on the DC side. This is my planned...

What wire should I use, buried in conduit? THHN, USE-2, MH Feeder, XHHW?

Thanks, I should have caught that. So is the 4/0, 4/0, 4/0, 2/0 wire I'm seeing generally used in 3ph applications with the 2/0 being the neutral?

What wire should I use, buried in conduit? THHN, USE-2, MH Feeder, XHHW?

Thanks! I guess its especially huge if I dont need to do 4/0-4/0-4/0-2/0 like I originally thought which would have been just under max for 2" PVC on the fill charts. If I actually end up needing something like 4/0-4/0-2/0-6ga that would give significantly more room. I always assumed in the...

What wire should I use, buried in conduit? THHN, USE-2, MH Feeder, XHHW?

Thanks for helping me through this. I find this work super interesting but as a DIYer there's a pretty big gap in info out there when you get beyond the basic AC circuits. I need to make a line drawing tonight as part of getting the shed electrical (inverters, batteries, combiner and sub...
