^ also good points! I should have clarified that I only use mine when drilling quick holes in soft wood and not in steel or anything else hard.

No idea if this particular model is any good but the holes work well for clamping if you have the proper style clamp. Check out the Paulk workbench (if you aren't familiar) for a good example of how the holes can be utilized.

For non precise holes they can work just fine but I find that you can get a lot of run out in the bit depending on brand and fitment into the drill.
