What rocket scientist invented that. They work when it is just broken off but after that is where it goes...

    You can't be welding hot enough or no penetration as it may take a couple of try's but I have done dozens from 1/4" up to 3/4" and have never been stumped yet what type of welder are you attempting this with? T

    Doing is believing acetone and atf works one post about oil and water doesn't cut it.Google it and see the results not an urban legend at all.I have mixed acetone and aft why do you ask haven't you!It mixed very easily. T

    Go to a welding supply house and buy some 3" or 4" zip wheels in various thickness and you are good to go.Not a specialized wheel at all.You will also need the mandrel. T

    1/8" is more than adequate with that wood under it..You could put cylinder heads on that all day long and easier to obtain and much cheaper and easier to fabricate.Mine is 1/8" and has seen 100's of heads. T

    Now is when you swab the bore with muriatic acid it will remove the smeared aluminum and doesn't hurt the bore at all.Google it for yourself.Then you are in to the deg-laze stage. T
