    Package or Split unit Heatpump

I've been avoiding the minisplits simply based to serviceability/availability of parts (and ability to repair yourself). How has the general reliability of the mini splits been? Are they user serviceable? How much of an efficiency increase are they (in terms of % lower consumption of power)

    Package or Split unit Heatpump

So I have a dillema with what direction to put a heatpump in. I can put a split Heatpump in (condensor outside and air handler in the attic above the garage, or go with a package Heatpump and run ductwork thru the walls. I have a 650sqft detached garage. Split Unit Pros: -only 3 small holes...

    Small engine power options

If I understand this correctly you need to power a cvt clutch. One option would be a 3cyl geo metro motor with a machined hub bolted to the flywheel to fit a clutch. Good for 55HP an 6000rpm Lightweight and compact

Building is up and the defunct Neighborhood ***. is complaining?

What is the ETA for the building to be completed? In no way should you stop work. Are we talking days, weeks, or months? If it will be complete within days work weeks keep at it. See a lawyer if it will make you happy, but before that you had better go to the county to see what exactly is...

Building is up and the defunct Neighborhood ***. is complaining?

Simple plan: 1) ignore the letter, it never came. 2) continue building Neighborhood Associations have severly limited powers vs an HOA, especially a voluntary one. If your NA was defunt, ie no meetings as prescibed by the bylaws, etc it doesn't exist. If there are other "non conforming"...

What do you think this is worth???

I'd say 150 on craigslist. While it is a great tool, used they don't go for much money. http://cgi.ebay.com/Ingersoll-Rand-Air-Pneumatic-Hoist-1-2-Ton-/290485172164?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43a243f7c4 Even on ebay no one bought it at 250$ Problem with it is, that businesses buy these...

    Recovering from being burglarized

This won't win you any friends with the local PD, but at this point you have no choice. Assume you filed with a local metro PD. If everything you say is factual and that the evidence is in plain sight and they aren't acting on it. Take it to the next level. File the report with the county...

    freakin ****!!!!!

On that metal outlet box, do you have the correct knockout covers...sorry don't know what they are called, but for Romex to enter a metal box they have to have a screwed in adapter that prevents the metal circular opening from rubbing thru the insulation.

Lincoln AC225 Welder on 30a circuit

FYI, if this is a dedicated circuit for the welder you can double the breaker size on this circuit. Welders are afforded the ability to double breaker size for a given wire due to the limited duty cycles and associated amp draw of the welders. And no, you do not need a GFCI on 240V products...

    Shinco mini spilts

I think with minisplits you get what you pay for. If you have a problem, I doubt there is much service available, or parts

Sheet Aluminum Sources in/near Chicago, IL?

5xxx alloys are harder/stronger than 3xxx alloys. How much fabrication/bending do you plan to do with the sheet? The 5xxx will not form as well as 3xxx in general but for a simple brake type operation it should work.

Any A/C Technicians in the house?

You're on the right path here. Caps go bad all the time. With a unit as old as yours I would have bought a kick start/hard start capacitor to give the compressor a bit more juice to get her moving. Remember this though, this compressor is ancient, and if you do get her running (very likely)...

2-2-2-4 Mobile Home Feeder wire for Garage?

There will never be tree roots or shrubs to worry about in this location (too close to my house and never plan on putting stuff there). Inside the house I take it I'm required to use conduit in the crawlspace up to the box (whats the minimum size for that)? I would like to avoid using conduit...

2-2-2-4 Mobile Home Feeder wire for Garage?
