    Compressor Air Line Size

FYI, I used zinc coated (galvanized) water lines. They don't have the oil coating on them, about the same price.

    Airless sprayers

Ok fellas, here's the deal. I have a small job that I need to spray and one of the commercial airless sprayers is almost too big. I need a smooth finish, so rollers etc are out. I have been pondering buying one of the hand held portable types. I have always been a little leery of these. I...

In-Law Apartments, Taxes, and Property Values

I rarely post here and this won't answer your question. You'll have to talk to your county accessor's office. But, with that said, I am looking at building something similar to this once my kids are both out of the house. This will be an "empty nest" shop. This will be modified but I like...

Atomic Industry World HQ: Part 7 (Security)

I know this is a little old but.....I have basic questions. I am wanting to install some sort of security on my shop and house. I have an alarm on the house now and I plan on running a conduit underground to pull some cat5 cable through to the barn. It's about 100 feet away. How do you...

Garage door placement, most eeficient use of wall space

That's just a metal building. The front would look like a house but half of it is a shop. If I get a 50x90 then basically 2250 sf would be house and the other 2250 would be shop.

Garage door placement, most eeficient use of wall space

I am pondering selling my place and building a man house....basically a house inside of a shop. I am looking into a 50x90 steel building with a 1500 sf house/apt on one end. Something similar to this. http://www.kodiaksteelhomes.com/series/6 I am trying to decide what the most efficient use...

Infrared tube vs. Infloor pex...pros/cons of either?

I have no idea about the tube heaters....but..... I visited a buddy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa In January. He had a geothermal system installed in his shop. It was the same size as mine 40x50, but his was 20' sidewalls. It was zero outside with a foot of snow and an inch of ice on the ground. It...

    Retirement home/garge plans

This is a single story, the second story is open for the motorhome/trailer. Look closely at the rendering.

    Retirement home/garge plans

I didn't design it. I just found it. I am modifying this plan to have a bigger shop and approx double the living space. I want everything heated and cooled, and cable, phone lines, etc. all under one roof. The living space will work out to about 1,000 sf I predict.

    Retirement home/garge plans

I don't post much here. I just lurk. I know I am 15 years away from my retirement goal, but I love to pipe dream and start collecting the information/plans etc. Our goal is to travel a lot and have a place to stop over ocassionally to wash clothes, check the mail, eat Christmas dinner etc. We...

Adding an HVAC unit to your shop, ducting questions

I usually don't post here, but lately I have had deals dropping into my lap. The last deal I just had was I have tenatively purchased a 5 ton Lennox HVAC system, that is still in the box. It has the outside unit and the inside portion. I would like to add some of the large round ducting to...

Locating a 2 post lift in the most efficient place

My thing is that this thing is gonna be an albatross in the middle of the floor. No matter where I put it, it affects something. I want to be able to pull my racecar in on the trailer without having to jockey around it. I don't want to move it......that's why I am pondering this.

    Garage / Home Secuity Cameras

Hi guys. I have been lurking and reading. I am pretty much technically retarded though. So could you guys break it down for us slow guys? Here's what I have available. My shop is 100' from my house. I have a wireless router that I can pick up from there. I don't have a phone line out at...

Locating a 2 post lift in the most efficient place

I just spend a lot of time fabricating and that would be good to be able to do it up at a reasonable height. Thanks FFBT, I am in the purge mode right now, although I got rid of the 32 and bought another wagon..... I was just up in Winnipeg for a flying business trip. Stayed right down town.
