JD, the **** connectors I use are not high temp but If I am connecting a lead wire from the stator I normally use silicone high temp heat shrink or high temp electrical tape. I may be wrong, but I thought the reason the lead wires are high temp is the amount of current not the internal temp of...

JD, as HOP UPsaid, it can be brazed but welding Cast Iron is tricky. A professional welder can probably do it on the bottom. If it were me I would locate another 100 or 150 and cannibalize the base then sell off the other parts on ebay or locally. As for the bent feed handle rod, as admranger...

I used a Woodstock D3455 Drill Chuck, 5/8-Inch by JT33 I got from Amazon. I do not recall if I had to modify it by drilling a hole in the center or not.

Jd5000, I have never had a tension hand knob stuck. That said, I would make sure that there is noting lodged inside the lock screw hole on the bottom of the head below the knob and if it looks clear, I would use a wooden dowel or something similar to push the knob from the pinion side of the...

I recently had someone suggest to prime the inside of the column with brush on primer by pouring it inside the column and rolling the column. I though this was a great idea and may try it at some point.

You may want to mark the shaft or measure from each end where the bearings are sitting. On my MSA the shaft is smooth the entire length so there is no index for where the bearings need to sit.
