I recently had someone suggest to prime the inside of the column with brush on primer by pouring it inside the column and rolling the column. I though this was a great idea and may try it at some point.

You may want to mark the shaft or measure from each end where the bearings are sitting. On my MSA the shaft is smooth the entire length so there is no index for where the bearings need to sit.

Btickle, I rebuilt this drill press four years ago and no longer own it. I do not recall but if you post some pics of the nut perhaps I can remember how I removed it.
