Ok. My Makita batteries have protection in them. I have a battery adapter and when I use it the battery will cut out when it needs charging.

I believe that (nominally) all lithium batteries have built in low voltage protection. Even the little rechargeables in small electronics. However, there may be other things going on between the battery and the tool that protect both.

For an operation as critical as that I would forgo the GFCI altogether no matter what the code says.

I would expect that all battery manufacturers would have battery management built into the pack itself. I have 2 Makita flashlights and neither have extra pin for battery management. This would suggest the low voltage cutout is baked into the battery My other tools have a 3rd pin...

Yes and no. I have a Fluke that I purchased for its DC clamp. It's very nice. But the one I use the most is a relatively inexpensive Greenlee.

Usually you can run the wire right into the connection point on the unit. It's never fun or nice but it can be done.

This is how mine is set up as well. But I also have a receptacle there so I can play music and make some toast while I shower. Edit: dont worry about the receptacle in the shower. It's not GFCI protected.

Or rather. There are probably better ways to do this.

I have lots of Makita in the work van. The other guys I work with have DeWalt and Milwaukee. Im trying my best to stay with one battery system. It's hard when the other guys bring out nice stuff that Makita doesn't make.

I measured the resistance of the coil. Only 1200 ohms. The internet says that's low. I'm going to see if I can find a new coil today. The reason I'm not chasing the carb is because even if I put gas right into the plug hole it get no fire. Edit: New plug last year and new air filter last year.
