Installing GFCI Breaker/finding the neutral wire

Honestly the clamp on meter is the probably the quickest and cleanest. I also understand that not everyone has a clamp on meter.

Adding a sub panel to a garage - quote question

Whatever happens don't let anyone talk you into upgrading to a new 200a service. You don't need it.

Code question for you sparkies - GFCI

My guess The more wires you have in a box the harder it is to work with. If you go from 1 to 2 to 3 then you only have 2 cables per box. One you have 3 cables in a box you have to have marrettes and then box fill becomes a challenge.

Ever do something so stupid you wonder if you should be left unsupervised?

I was warming a piece of wood in the oven today before applying finish - the broil setting will start wood on fire if left too long.

    Shop Heater Sizing

I wonder how low you could actually go. I have almost 1000 sq ft and had to convince the guy I bought my heater from (good trustworthy guy, known him for years) that 45000 was a bit big. I think I have 30000 and it works no problem. we get -30 C and the garage is never cold. That being said I...

    Shop Heater Sizing

10 watts or 35 btu /square foot is a good place to start. Perhaps a little more considering the high ceiling. It sounds like you mean to insulate to a good level which is as important as heater size.

    Generator powering house from shop?

Do you have some precedent or proof of this. Perhaps a news article or white sheet from a utility.

Getting ready to feed my garage.

I understand and some what agree with this philosophy. I wouldn't classify pulling 170 feet of #2 as "easy".

I shattered one of the rear windows in my work van one day when a pipe wasn't in far enough. It's a club.

Can you not set your programmable stat to run up to your desired temp for one portion of the day then back to low temp for the other periods.....or does it get too cold such that the stat doesn't go low enough.

Need help deciphering an old conduit bender...

Thet are not a royal pita. You just have to learn how to use it. No matter who you are there is a lot of "feel" when you are bending pipe.

Need help deciphering an old conduit bender...

I will do my best. If you line up the degree marks with the little point as you sight down it you will get the marked angle (with practice).

    Socket Sets, how many?

I have a 3/8 "set" in the work van. In the shop I have a full 3/8 set and a full 1/2 drive set. I think that's it. Maybe I should buy some more.

    c. 1920's Wiggy

Ideal's version is referred to as "Vol-con". Voltage/continuity. The guys I learned from all had them and I have had one with me everyday since. I'm hoping to find a good alternative soon since they are getting hard to find.

I could use some help for a backyard floodlight.

It won't give you very much light at 100 feet. If you do want plentiful light at 100 feet the budget will have to rise substantially.

I could use some help for a backyard floodlight.

My suggestion is something like this. We have a similar product where I am. Lots of light. Not too much money. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CXJYF8R/?tag=atomicindus08-20
