Probably could have but it’s a $70 helmet, so it didn’t really seem worth it to replace much more than the battery. Besides, it seemed like a good excuse to upgrade to a helmet I wanted in the first place.

So I ended up ordering a Miller Digital Infinity from Cyberweld. It just seemed to be the best combo of clarity, no green tint, features, and the price point was in my budget.

    Dilemma... Dewalt or Milwaukee?

I have the Dewalt 20v tools and I can definitely recommend them. However, if I ever decide to invest in any 12v tools, I’d go Milwaukee for size. I figure if I’m using a 12v tool, I’m more in need of compactness over power and the Milwaukee wins that for me.

So I’m honestly leaning towards the Miller Infinity. I know people say the headgear *****, but I’m really digging the ClearLight lens plus they’re readily available for $270 or less.. I love the field of view for the Panoramaxx but it’s over $400 to not have a green tint, plus you can replace...

That’s tempting. It takes the VegaView down to that same price as an Infinity, and it brings the Panoramaxxx to under $400, very tempting. Anyone used them Optrels?

I’d love an Optrel Panaramaxxx because of the way they increased the field of view by bringing the filter in over the bridge of your nose but at over $400, it’s hard to justify. What do you think about the Optrel Vegaview 2.5?

For the Millers, is it worth the extra money for the Infinity over the Elite?

So I’m need of a new welding helmet. I currently use an Instapark GX990T but it has started flashing me and staying dark Asher I’ve stopped welding during use even after changing batteries multiple times, and I bought this in April of last year, and even then it hasn’t seen much use since I was...

Who makes a good quality engine hoist?

Other than the all metal casters, I had no complaints about my HF engine hoist. Only reason I sold it is because I grabbed the 2T HF engine hoist. Not sure about COO for the higher priced engine hoists like from Sunex, Uline, Westward. Vestil makes a fairly heavy duty engine hoist but they’re...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Had a lady come into to pick up the engine hoist I was selling for her husband who works second shift. Pretty lucky guy to have a wife who will pick up tools for you while you’re at work. And before anyone asks, yes I loaded the hoist in the truck for her, chivalry’s not dead.

My R1290 came in from another GJer. Goes along with the matching R3890 I got from the same GJer.

1/4”-1” 12 point 3/8” drive socket set from Tekton, 3/16”-1/2” nut driver set from Tekton, 2 Ton Engine Hoist from HF to replace my 1 Ton since they had the 2 Ton marked down to the same price as the 1 Ton and 2 Roller stands for either side of my Evolution saw stand.

Put together my new 2 Ton engine hoist and 2 roller stands I picked up today.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Took apart my rods and pistons, scotchbrited the bronze bushings a touch so the wrist pins slide buttery smooth, then reassembled the bottom end. No more binding at the 1-5 shared journal.

    Combination Squares

I have a couple Swansons 6” speed squares, a HF speed square and 6” combination square, and an Empire 12” combination square. No issues with any of them, although I’ve come to prefer Empire since they’re at least assembled in the USA.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Took all the new pistons and rods out of my 351W to try and figure out why it’s lightly binding up when I spin it over.

Latest on the new Craftsman factory in Texas

I think the success of them moving some manufacturing back to the US will depend on the pricepoint and the ability to warranty the tools. If the pricing ends up around or maybe a little more than the Chinese/Taiwan made stuff but cheaper than the truck brands, I could see them selling quite a...

Miller Multimatic 215 vs Lincoln Power Mig 210MP

So I have the newer inverter based 211 and have had no issues since purchasing 2 months ago, and in that time, there's been quite a few instances of just welding for an hour or two on scrap metal.
