    The VISES of Garage Journal

Here is one of my vises that I have been entirely unsuccessful identifying. It is some kind of milling vise that rotates and tilts. It has 5" jaws, opens 4 ½”, and weighs 30 ½ lbs. It has the forged number "2317" on one side, and “6602” and "13 / 1613 / 16" on the top plate. It has a wedge that...

What do I have here Keen Kutter?

My second Keen Kutter (can't find the first one right now!) is this 6" long, open-end S wrench. It is marked K380, with sizing 1/4 USS and 3/16 USS on the rear. It is in pretty nice shape, so you can't help but pick that one up for the collection!

The Ancient and Independent Order of Oddfellows (Adjustables, that is...)

A new addition to my collection is this 8” Universal Wrench Co. Lever Adjustable Wrench. It has patent dates of 6-3-19 and 7-22-19. As mentioned in four.cycle’s List of Manufacturers thread, this wrench lists both of its headquarters, Detroit and Windsor (Ontario). It needs to be cleaned up a...

The Vintage New Britain and Associated Thread!

Here is my 3/8” drive Sparta (New Britain made) set with great knurling on the handles. It looks like it may be missing a piece or two. It may be an original metal box, but I am not sure (no markings). I could not find any similar Sparta socket set photos or advertisements.

    Lectrolite, Lectrolite Tru Fit

Picked up this Lectrolite needle-nose pliers (6 1/2" length) recently. No other markings on either side. Based on DadsTools' comments above, I would assume that these are pre-1953. Its logo is diamond shaped, if that helps date it some more. Really in excellent shape for the vintage.

Schick: Wrenches, Razors, Facts, & Fiction

Just picked up this 12" Schick Adjustable Wrench. It weighs 1 lb. 7 oz., which is about the same as the comparable sized JP Danielson (1 lb. 9 oz.) and Barcalo Buffalo (1 lb. 6 oz.) models. It looks like bronze (certainly non-sparking), but one of you may know differently. It works super...

    2022 Garage Sale Thread

I’m not sure that I’m not overdosing (maybe better to say I am sure I’m overdosing!) on my adjustable wrench collection, but most are makes I don’t have and are somewhat unique. Today's haul total $45: 12” Wright 15” Snap-on Blue-Point 12” Blue Grass 15” JH Williams 15” Diamond Calk 12” Schick...

    2022 Garage Sale Thread

I am a little bit excited with this addition to my Long-C Craftsman collection, that I have not even itemized the individual sockets yet. All of the sockets/tools on the left are BE, and all of the ones on the right are Circle-H. I just thought I’d share a few photos before I even sit down and...

Let's see your Billings and Spencer goodies

Following up on my post in the GS, and at the encouragement of Private Lugz, I thought I would post my growing Billings and Spencer collection here. They are primarily vintage Billings & Spencer Co. DOE wrenches, with all but one Triangle B Standard Early Face Markings 1915 - 1926: (1107 (2)...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Here are the before and after photos of my PV Co. (Prentiss) Shepard 60. It was spray-bombed when I picked it up. There was little pitting on the vise body, but you can see there was some on the slide and screw. At this point, it still runs fairly tightly, so I did not grind anything down and...

    Don’s Den of Dandy Delights

Outstanding collection Don. I can’t believe all the work you did putting together all of those complete sets. Is there such a thing as ratchet/socket set envy?!
