    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT Mid-Century Moto Mecca Makeover

I've been guilty of getting my kids into situations (bicycling) that are slightly above their capabilities and if they manage, they're usually willing to acknowledge the struggle, and feel proud and encouraged, looking for more next time... I've also gone past that point a time or two, but...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Weekend was less than totally productive in the garage: changed the brake pads on my #1 bike, squeaks continued, full clean of rotor with isopropyl, THEN I thought to check for wear. At least a half mil out of spec in all measured spots, according to my HF digital caliper. Rear is ok still...

Re: From losing everything to being cash-poor and shop-rich in "only" five years! If I tried that with my 1926 "slab" it would likely become a "sink-hole."

I forgot about the bed-in on new bikes, having never worked in a shop or even sold a used bike from my garage... :dunno: My neighbors all think I'm crazy when I start my test rides/brake bed-in rides after I've had some free time in garage to overhaul a bike or even change a few sets of brake...

No. Thank YOU for posting . I love the updates. How many bicycle pads/rotors are you changing that it was worth your time to build the bed-in device? I guess your side job must be really thriving again.

Helluva an update. How's the cleanup with the bacon on the biolite fire pit? I love mine, but haven't been gutsy enough to do anything messier than steaks.

Gregor, its amazing what differences people can accept easily, if its not their first impression. I'm an "east coast liberal" in a lot of people's minds based on my education, but a "jack-booted thug" in other people's minds based on my employment. I'll leave the politics out, as I don't have...

I've always thought of anything 22lr as a pest control tool, until one starts tricking them out. Competing for fun makes it a toy, not a tool. Competing for money, turns the same device back into a tool. If you could find a way to apply your toys to my squirrel problem (or problem...

That's a cool idea. And 8x10 is plenty big to tell a story. I like the idea, and the execution (from inter webs 10,000ft looks great). We all [most of us, anyway] have old 3x5s or 4x6s that won't reproduce well if blown up and viewed from close. #goodfromfarfarfromgood describes most of my...

I haven't managed to add a Benchmade folder to my rotation, but I did seriously consider a few when I lost my SOG (simply replaced it with the same trident model). I agree, assisted is all I need, and really, one-handed opening, whatever the method is good enough for most of the time. Don't...

Restoring Old Ford Dealership and Beer Joint

    1. You are a braver or richer, or more foolish man than I. Likely some combination of at least two. I love seeing old made new and old preserved, most particularly when it comes to pre-WWII architecture. Thank you for taking the leap. 2. If the restaurant/bar plan is too labor/risk...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Today, and yesterday, and every other week since May. I've teleworked in the garage. I've gotten no major projects knocked out, but my bike chains are clean, well lubricated and I've push an innumerable volume of objects back and forth from the workbench, to the shelves to the workbench...

    44 Bikes Frame Shop

No need to apologize for radio silence... This is a hobby for all of us, and you haven't been silent on Instagram... which presumably is more advertisement than garage journal is. I'm glad you're still building, staying in business to the extent that anyone can at this point. Were you at all...

west of Philly - barn saving

Late to the thread catch up for various reasons but sorry to hear about your uncle's passing. Hopefully family has found ways to get together and grieve without spreading... That is a helluva a carpentry project around the crates. It looks like what the sky-mall end-table crate thing SHOULD...

    Let's See Your Garage Dog

On long-term loan from my mother-in-law. The dog is dull, uninterested in life, and doesn't help with anything... She's only interesting in food, food, food, and houseflies. 11 year old corgi. But she's also about as undemanding as a cat, so she's not a bad replacement dog after two years...

I'm not a car guy but that looks like a helluva a road trip for anyone. I think I've complimented you on the stickers-for-tracks before, but its still a great idea and bears repeating. I missed the news on that warehouse fire, although I caught the one about the parking lot in Florida full...

With the Phil Wood bicycle grease, I don't even bother with gloves, just having a shop rag around is good enough. As far as cleaning up the physical world around us, it can be hard to convince the kids that picking up other people's yucky trash is worth it, especially with all of the virus...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

This was a month-long-as-I-have-time process, but I completed it yesterday, in the driveway. Scene: 8 year old daughter is not quite done with her 20" bike, the 6 year old doesn't know it, but has outgrown his 16" bike and the 4 year old is already in the middle of the zone of the 16" bike he...

    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT Standard 2 car turned shop , Thanks Jack!

I just can't handle the 36" height, unless I'm sitting on an awkward height chair. #heightbrag, but seriously, 40" is a sweet spot for me. I'll be pulling a re-org of the garage once I get my MIL car out of storage in my garage. You and Jack still seem to be the standards which I'll have to...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I teleworked from the garage today. It was good. In between tasks and meetings I got some bike stuff cleaned up. It got warm after three, so I turned the sprinkler on the grass seed and rinsed my face and arms prior to finishing up the day.
