The only way to get all the rust out of rust pits is to sandblast it. You can grind, sand, wire wheel, use acid, etc for days......& you will still not have all the rust out. The thing to know about sandblasting is that it can (will) warp flat sheetmetal, so it is best not used on large flat...

Meguiars stuff works ok. Presta makes a great line of buffing / polishing products, but they work best using a powered buffer.

Take a piece of whatever you are painting (if it is still the right color) in to the paint store & have them color match it. Almost all stores that sell paint also custom mix colors. (lowes, home depot, fleet farm, menards, tru-value / ace, etc) If you need a durable paint, go to an auto-body...

If anyone is looking for tongs, I just got mine from quick & dirty tools. Great quality for a decent price.

Amazon Prime day was the biggest marketing scam I've seen in a long time!!! Very few (if Any good deals) & just a way to sucker you into Prime membership!

If Zoro tools has a good % off / discount sale in the future....I'd definitely get a Miller from them. I have 2 Miller welders & have never had a problem with either one of them.

No pics to show yet, but I am getting started on a forge also. I have the firepot / tuyere built & I just picked up a nice used stainless steel gas grill to set it in (& to have it be mobile). I also have my coal & a new set of tongs ready & waiting.... just need to find the time to get back...

Do you just want to close off the hole, or do you want something you can open up? It looks like there are hinge openings on the body & it would look pretty slick with double doors on it. Whether you want doors or a solid panel, an English wheel should be used to put some curve in the panel or...

Post your Location... I have 25 years experience in classic auto restoration & custom metal fabrication, but I'm in Wisconsin. If you are on the other side of the country, that doesn't do you much good.

I'd imagine you could email the manufacturer to get one. What do you need to know? They're pretty simple. Turn the handle, jack it up.

Easiest option (if you already have a floor jack) would be to jack one end up with it & have feet on the other end that slide easily, or some kind of wheels that touch the floor when you jack up the other end.
