Cheap battery alternative for Bosch 12v tools. (Maybe Milwaukee too)

Wasn't aware that Bosch owned Skil, but that is not surprising. It is noted that the Milwaukee base plate is tilted, though the latches are perpendicular and in the correct place. It doesn't look like it would be very difficult to modify any of them to interchange. As far as the serial...

1/4 hex driver --- What Do You Use It For?

If you are referring to a 1/4" hex impact driver, definitely go for it. I held off for quite a while, but finally gave in to buying a 12v 1/4" impact this spring, it blows my old 18v drill away when it comes to driving screws, bolts etc. Much more compact, light weight, and you can kiss...

Good find, it does appear to have the same contacts.

Cheap battery alternative for Bosch 12v tools. (Maybe Milwaukee too)

Stumbled upon a clearance box at my local Lowes store, they were clearing out batteries and chargers for their display tools. All $5 each. Dug through the box, the only thing that caught my eye was a 12v Skil Lithium battery. I don't own a Skil 12v tool, but it looked very similar to the Bosch...

    Lowe's Clearance Thread 2014

Sorry I don't, but looking at pictures online, the contacts and the shape appear to be very similar, but there would certainly be modifications needed at the base where the battery snaps into the tool. Just a little follow up, this is the Skil battery in the Bosch tool after slight trimming...

Old Bell for new barn, Restore or not? Pics

Looks like it was stored upside down and filled up with water a few times to cause all that rust. Personally, I would leave the outside as is, clean all the rust off the inside and give it a coat of oil to preserve it a bit. I actually have the exact same bell, got it from my uncle's estate...

Room / "man cave" for teenager

I helped my brother in law with this many years ago when me and his older sister started dating. He was around 10 at the time. Mixture of HF, Norther Tool and Craftsman rolling cabs and workbenches for his storage and a huge collection of racing/automotive stickers to personalize them. Somehow...

    OLD BARNS...anyone else have one?

Haha, maybe I should, I could sure use the money. Small back window yes, but not a longstepper, it's a short and wide, 6ft fleetside.

    Lowe's Clearance Thread 2014

A follow up on this, the Skil battery dropped right into my Bosch charger and charged right up, confirmed all contacts were the same, just didn't have a chance to shave off the excess plastic to slide it in my Bosch tools. Yes it's .6ah less, but for $5 I can't go wrong on a spare battery.

    OLD BARNS...anyone else have one?

OP, I know this thread is old, but love the 67 and the 71/72, and the barn of course. That 67 looks identical to mine. This barn isn't too old, maybe 20 years; used to house our horses before we got rid of them, but it does have some old iron inside along with my 67 twin to yours. This the...

    Lowe's Clearance Thread 2014

My local Lowes was clearing out the batteries/chargers from display power tools, some outdated some current. All $5 each The only battery that was left that looked useful was a Skil 12v LiIon. I don't own a Skil 12v tool, but it looked awfully similar to the Bosch 12v tools I have. I took it...

    Which pocket flashlight?

Shop around a little, LEDs come in all different colors and color temperatures. Typical cheap LEDs have the cool/blue white that you probably dislike, but there are plenty of quality options out there with a warmer more natural light.

led conversion for standard "shop light"

I haven't tried that light conversion in particular, but I can tell you that your screw in LED bulb idea wouldn't work well. Most of the light would be output in the wrong direction, mostly up from the bulb in that situation vs straight out where you would need and use it.

    Which pocket flashlight?

Maglite is finally catching up with the technology of their lights with their Pro Line. They have forever relied on their bulletproof housing and popularity to get them by while their light and optics technology has fallen WAY behind. They are finally catching up, but honestly the same or better...

    Which pocket flashlight?

For my pocket daily carry I carry a Maratac AAA. Hard to beat it's super tiny size, AAA convenience, and it is surprisingly bright for it's size with 3 brightness levels. Only downside is twist only, I wish it had a microswitch. http://www.countycomm.com/aaa.html I also keep a Streamlight...

Hot Rod builders need speedo help

I don't know that I could part with that stock speedo, it's definitely got a classic look that flows with the dash. I would just refresh what you have and go with that. But really you've got to give us more to go on before recommending anything. What size you are planning, face/number/needle...

Any reviews here on these BIG *** LIGHTS? (LED)

As Gerald mentioned, 100w in 100w out in some form, though not necessarily all as heat. Yes you are correct that even visible light can be absorbed by another material and converted to heat, but that is not absolute. Incandescent bulbs use only about 5% at most of their input to create visible...

Another - this won't last too long

The 20pc set has been that price for several months, fluctuating a bit in between, but that's what I paid for the same set in July. Still a great deal.
