By the title of the thread I though this was gonna be about an ex lol

6 point vs. 12 point sockets

Its smart to have both. When you have worked on things long enough you know what bolts are prone to stripping by what its used for and amount of rust, dirt ect. When dealing with low torque fasteners 12 point socvets aren't going to cause any damage and only make you faster moving from bolt to...

    New craftsman 3/8 ratchet problems???

Sk's base ratchet can be had for under 20 bucks. Trust me, its a big upgrade. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the model is 45170 I think. The 1\4 version is even better. If want something more functional but less durable the flex gearwrench 120xp are great. I hate shouting them out now but...

What are your thoughts on this tape measure?

I don't think the idea is bad myself but that thing is rediculous. Saying that thing needs refinement would be the understatement of the year. Honestly it should be scrapped and the inventor should start a new. Not necessarily a problem but anything that makes work faster and easier is OK in my...

    31/32 socket?

I seen a socket and ratchet set on eBay just now that used a 7/16 drive size. Never heard of this before either. They were ancient. Blackhawk I think was the brand

    31/32 socket?

Thanks man. The stuff you post are usually great deals. I like that you don't include SO and likes. Can't consider any of that stuff a "hot deal".

    31/32 socket?

Though not specifically for what I mention earlier but that size might come in handy for breaking loose a slightly rounded 1". Oh how i wished I worked on more standard size stuff. Great deals on ebay for SAE. Not so much for metric. Cant justify buying much standard.

    31/32 socket?

I knew about alot of the /32 sizes but even an idiot like myself can figure out 31/32 is pretty darn close to an inch.

    31/32 socket?

Is this a real size or is it for breaking a stripped 1' fastener? Never heard of some of these funky SAE sizes out there. I have mainly worked on japanese motorcycles and newer cars so I don't have a huge amount of experience with standard sizes.

    which wrench set brand

Unless I'm just looking in the wrong place but wright grip is twice the price of a similar Sk set and proto asd about 50 bucks more

    which wrench set brand

Sk but I would get the long pattern set. The other set is pretty short in length. I don't like them as much as I thought I would when I got that set. Tekton is pretty good. I would go with them over Chinese GW and 1/3 the price if not less.

What is going on at APEX Tool Group?

SK trips me out a little. Aside from some QC problems here and there they make good tools but their pricing is all over the place. 44 piece 1\4" ratchet/socket set 130$= good value for nice tools. 100 odd dollars for a few hex sockets=WTF. 140$ for 8-19mm long pattern wrench set= not bad. 90$...

What is going on at APEX Tool Group?

Yeah gearwrench is losing its professional fanbase by their lack of quality late!y and Chinese coo. You would think that this would be bad for them but the name over quality guys more than make up the slack.Just like craftsman. Was going to buy there big set of long pattern combos then found out...

    Custom line wrenches

Thanks Gungatim that's what I wanted to know. I have ratcheting line wrenches and regular one but I figured I could make some for my home garage. These were the first wrenches I ever bought and thought I could put them to use somehow. I will probably keep them to modify if need be or for abuse...

    Battery powered screwdrivers

Even if you could find a decent one with the price of batteries it would cost a fortune to run. I got a cordless screwdriver for a Christmas gift called the flip out or something like that. The thing looks rediculous but works great. I like it around the house. It has plenty of torque but...

    Custom line wrenches

I have a set of us c-man raised panel wrenches that I never use. They are just too short for my liking. I was thinking of cutting gaps out of the box ends of all of them so I would have a huge set of line wrenches. Has anyone ever done this before? If so how well do they work? I imagine they...

Which >1" Gearwrench ratcheting wrench to buy?

Yeah when I was in school sae was hardly ever used at all. So much that I didn't even carry them with me. They should have loaner wrenches you can use for the rare instance you would need sae. In school they aren't worth lugging around or the extra space they take up.

    gear wrench opinion

Gear wrench is very good in most cases but they are starting to raise prices as there recognition grows. Their screwdrivers and pliers aren't very good but they price this stuff like their already proven tools (ratchet wenches). I also think they should make some xl DBE wrenches that ratchet on...

    Best budget master hex/Torx set

I like the idea of getting bits and a holder socket but have some concerns. Obviously the there wouldn't be as tight a fit as a pressed in socket, so would it be exponentialy more prone to break under decent torque loads? And ofcourse bits falling out. I like the sk bit socket for the price. For...
