I'd say 1/2 would be OK for a home type shop. An industrial shop would benefit with a much larger line. The farther you get away from the compressor the line could be reduced, but not from the get go.

Ask 5 different guys & you will get 5 different answers. I am sure there is more then one way of doing it. I would take my time & drive around town or the internet & see how different people did it. I am sure you will see some good, bad & ugly. Then you can make your own "way" of doing it.

Like anything else, I think the price would be negotiable. Especially if you stuck with an in house design build type company.

I would go with 1/2 plywood VS OBS board. Not that much more, but would withstand the test of time better. IMO

Not a real fan of anything HF, why not fab up a custom one? Even if it costs more and takes longer the fact you can make it to you specific needs would be a plus!

The saying "nothing runs like a deere" is true, but they weren't talking about the box store ones. Kinda like the TV that are made for "black Friday sales" are made just for black Friday sales of lesser quality, cheaper components.

A real JD is a JD318, probably the best garden tractor JD has ever made. The mass produced box store ones are just to "stay in the market" and not meant to last. IMO

Well, like anything else when you don't have one and are looking they are as rare as hens teeth. Once you buy one of the over priced ones you will be tripping over $100 ones at yard sales.

Looks like it would be relatively easy to add a pressure treated sill and a sill seal while you are at it. Replace front and rear under lament siding with 1/2" plywood to prevent racking in the future.

You didn't mention your brand of tractor, it does make a difference. The craftsmen & box store tractors trannys are not really made to do "extreme" work. You would want to start with a heavy duty garden tractor. Older sears suburban, older JD, older cub cadet. I would recommend a John Deere...
