    Road Trip Jack Recommendations?

I see those cars on the side of the road regularly — the ones who tried to drive on the flat to the next exit. Often turns out rather poorly.

Pumping oil out of 5 gallon oil drain tank?

The ones I am finding for that style are 18-20 gallons, apart from a 3 wheeled unit if questionable quality that is 9 gallons. My current 5 gallon is pretty light and compact in comparison.

Pumping oil out of 5 gallon oil drain tank?

I bought one of the battery operated HF stick pumps and it was useless. Maybe I was not using it right. I think it says not to use with oil. I’d be happy buying a Milwaukee stick pumps if they work fine with oil. I have all Milwaukee battery tools. Have the M18 transfer pump but have not...

    Road Trip Jack Recommendations?

I bring a HF 1.5 ton add aluminum floor jack, one of my winter or summer wheels depending on which are not mounted at the time, a Milwaukee M12 or M18 impact, a cheap clicker torque wrench, a Milwaukee M12 or M18 inflator, a slime kit and a plug kit. Have not had a flat in years until the last...

Pumping oil out of 5 gallon oil drain tank?

I have been using a HF 5 gallon oil drain tank under my lift for about 15 years, but am getting tired of removing the telescoping catch pan and lifting the tank while I try to pour the used oil back into 1L and 5L containers. Is there a better oil drain tank or a pump that works well for this...

    Best Brake Caliper lube

I used to use Purple but read the same thing about sliders and know I used it on some. I don’t like using 2 different greases on a brand job so I changed to Permatex Red that is Silicon Ceramic.

    Help me organize my mess

I would invest the time and money in lockers or shelves, floor to ceiling if possible. Use labels and bins or boxes to organize stuff and then keep putting stuff away. It’s part you not bothering part not having a place for stuff. I’d have to play around with layout, but would want one 10+...

    Floor Jack Pad

I very often put a block of wood on the jack. It adds to the reach and eliminates possible metal on metal. Have a big assortment of blocks, from 1/2 inch to 6 inches thick.

    Brake Caliper Hanging Hooks

The Hazet hooks are the highest performance because they lighten the wallet the most.

I love mine and reach for it before the M18 mid and high torques.

    Brake Caliper Hanging Hooks

I have two sets of S style caliper hooks, one from Amazon and one that I recall is more of a name brand though I can’t remember what. They both work equally well. If you want to spend a lot of money, I am sure you can find a seller to take it. Coat hangers work great also, as others have...

Extractor Socket Sizes, Multiple Size Markings on Same Socket?

It is worth trying. They are fluted inside and maybe a little tapered so pound it on and hopefully it will work.

    Icon Sockets: Yes or No?

Lots of Torx, maybe more male than female, on late model BMWs. Also some hex. I don’t have any high end sockets and have been DIYing for 30+ years and getting the job done. Can think of very, very, very few instances where I thought the job would have gone better with a higher end socket. If...

I splurged on the set. Thanks. Will be my highest end hand tool set.

Extractor Socket Sizes, Multiple Size Markings on Same Socket?

Yes, a recommendation or suggestion, maybe depending on how big a hammer you have. I had a little set of 4 then upgraded to a set of 8 and now have a set with about 28 sizes. I found that sometimes nothing in the set of 4 or 8 fit well enough to help.

    Coil spring compressor

I sometimes do coilovers that are 2.375 or 2.5” and none of those big brands go below 3.5” diameter. I’d spend the money.

    Coil spring compressor

I have done springs on a bunch of cars over the years and never enjoyed it much. Have used the bars with hooks style tool and the jaw style tool. Rarely feel entirely comfortable, but have had only 1 spring get away and luckily my head was not in the way and it had a good area to travel into...
