Does Your Body Hurt Less with a Lift?

For guys with a lift, does your body hurt less after working on your car? Is the pain a lot less or just a little? It will be a big spend for me, so I am debating if it is worth it.

    Floor Jack/Jack Stand Life Span?

Do floor jacks/jack stands have a lifetime service life? I have a couple jack stands and floor jacks that are 20+ years old. I inspect my jack stands regularly. Don't see any cracks, the welds still look good. The floor jack is starting to lose its ability to lift unless I bleed the fluid...

Recommend Me an Outer Tie Rod Tool

I need to get a tool for separating outer tie rod ends. I'll be using it mostly on FWD Mazdas. The two types I see are the ones you hit with a hammer and the ones that use a bolt to force the ends apart. Which one do you use/prefer?

Anyone Got a Caster/Camber Gauge for Home Use?

I'm thinking of getting this caster/camber gauge. http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/product/4506/Caster_Camber_Gauges Anyone ever use this before? Opinions on it? Got a better/different Caster/Camber gauge? I plan to use it on a street car that will see some track days.

    Reciprocating Saw or Cut-off Wheel

I need to cut off some rusted suspension bolts and have the money to buy either a reciprocating saw or cut-off tool, but not both. Is one better suited for the job? Which one is more useful overall? Both would be pneumatic.

    Mobile Tool Boxes

I need to get a tool box with wheels that can hold 60-70lbs of tools (sockets, ratchets, screwdrivers, pry bars, wrenches, etc.) and will keep my tools in place while I'm wheeling the thing around. I was looking for something like this...

    pneumatic v. corded electric drill

I need to get a new drill. My cordless does not have the torque to remove a broken bolt that is rusted into a suspension knuckle. I'm looking at a 3/8" because of the confined space it will be used in. In general, will a pneumatic have more reverse torque or a corded electric?

How often do you use your 3/8 impact?

Just curious how often this is used. Do you still grab your 1/2 or has the 3/8 taken over the bulk of the load? Do you say to yourself, "Man, I wish I bought this thing earlier" everytime you use it? I'm debating getting one but I already have a 1/2 impact and 3/8 ratchet and so far, both...

    Snap On Mini Tool Boxes

My god son's 8th birthday is coming up and I'd like to get him one of these mini snap-on tool boxes. The only place I know where to buy one is e-bay and they seem to go for $100 plus. Does any one know any other places I can buy them and where I can get them for a better price. Or if you have...

Snap On Won't Let Me Buy From Franchisee

I called Snap On today to see if they could put me in contact with a local dealer. I know Snap On will not disclose the name/number of franchisees, but I asked the customer service rep if there was a dealer in my area and if there was, could she give him my number. The CS rep confirmed there...

Where to Buy Cover for Air Compressor Gauges

I just bought this compressor but the covers for the gauges are missing. Anyone know where I could buy some covers. The air compressor is an old Sears 1 hp 12 gal. According to the serial number it was built in 1979.

Does this really move 6.3 cfm?

I came across this CL posting that showed what looks like a 20+ year old air compressor that moves 6.3 cfm @ 90psi. http://hartford.craigslist.org/tls/3016375721.html The only 120v Sears compressors that comes close to that now are the professional models. Even then they're only running about...

Is an Air Compressor for Home Use Necessary?

I'm looking at air compressors mostly because I want one, but want to try and justify the purchase. I'm looking at an IR 20 gal, 2hp, oil lubed that goes for about $500. The only things I can think of that I'd use it for are changing wheels, inflating tires and footballs, maybe an air...

What Brand Impact Sockets Do You Use?

I need to get a set of 1/2 impact sockets and was wondering what most techs/wrenchers use. I won't use them everyday. At most 2 or 3 times a month on my own or friends' cars. I don't want to buy cheap China-made C-man sockets. They look like **** and none of the stores near me still have USA...

    cordless vs. air impact wrench

Anyone ever use a cordless impact to remove bolts rusted on to the strut assembly or engine cross-member? Do they have enough torque to spin off a rusted on bolt or will I have to go the air route? Is there a big difference in torque when comparing air to cordless? And I mean big like the...
