Anyone have manual for DiAcro #4 finger brake?

Looking for a manual -user or parts diagram for a DiAcro #4 finger brake. Not the current #24 model but the older #4. I am guessing it was replaced by the #24 in the early 60s? I'd be curious to know if anyone knows when the #4 to #24 change took place also? No luck on vintgemachiner.org or...

    Another "vise grip" identification please.

Thanks for the circle-I Parker identification. Now how about this pair. It is made in Germany, along with the pictures below it has "chrom-vanadium" and "warranted" cast into it. It is called a "Universal-grip"

Who made Craftsman 45341 and 45342 "vise grips"

Reorganizing some of my vise grips. I have 4 or 5 older Craftsman locking pliers, "made in usa" and 45341 and 45342 marked on them. I do like them, especially the release lever which goes opposite to the Petersen vise grips. Who made these?

    IR 317 vs 317A

Anyone know the difference in the IR 317A vs the superseded 317? The body is squarer, made in Taiwan, vs the 317 which was made in Japan but other than that? Air consumption on the 317A is 12cfm, that's about all I know.

Knockoff Milwaukee high output M18 batteries?

I bought a High output 6.0 battery a year ago and was not happy with the price. I see various prices on ebay, all appear to be in original packaging, but some can be $20 or $30 lower than some others. I'm not talking about the obvious "equivalent" batteries which may say "lithium" instead of...

    Any decent garage door openers?

After 30 years, my old Genie screw drive garage door opener is dying. I did have to replace the carriage maybe 15 years ago, but pretty good service overall. Looking for a new garage door opener, first I see that most of them are wifi enabled, with alexa support, smart phone control and a bunch...

Make an arbor press a ratcheting arbor press

This gentleman removed the bottom two teeth off his arbor press and turned it into a pseudo ratcheting press. Pretty slick idea, anyone see any reason why I shouldn't do this on my new-to-me Dake 3ton? I know it doesn't make it a ratcheting press, but it's a move in the right direction. Go...

    Pferd victograin vs walter flexcut?

Anyone compared the Pferd victograin grinding discs (example Pferd 61167) vs the Walter flexcut (ex: 15L-453) Both are spendy versus a standard "rock" but both have proponents. Supposedly cut much faster and have good life. I've never had a life issue with standard el-cheapo grinding discs but...

A new record in baby bullet optimism

LOL, $1250 for a baby bullet, this must be a new record for insane pricing? I paid $150 for mine with original paint and mint jaws. Yes, I got a great deal, but top dollar has to be $450- $500 for this one?

flex head ratchet wrenches vs non flex

I had the itch to upgrade something, and having just replaced 14 hoses/pipes/water pump etc on my wife's car where a flex head wrench or two would've been very handy I decided to upgrade my old gearwrench SAE double box ratchet wrenches with some Tekton flex head double box. I tried them out a...

    Steck studlever - don't bother!

If anyone is thinking of buying a Steck studlever to use with their stud welder, don't bother. The concept is great, but even the gentlest use will snap the tool in half. I was ultra conservative with the pulling force and it still snapped. Checked Amazon feedback and 25% of buyers complained...

electric motors with oil cups - which oil.

I have motor oil of various viscosities, steam-cylinder oil, gearbox oil, spindle oil, way oil, hydraulic jack oil, vacuum pump oil and God knows how many other types if I stopped to think about it. But I don't have "electric motor oil", in fact until I looked I didn't know it existed. I've...

Finally got an ACME saw filer/Vise!

I've been wanting an ACME saw vise for maybe 20 years. I use a Disston 3D to sharpen saws currently and it's a good vise BUT nothing compares to the Acme. Thought I was buying just the vise from the picture, but it was the whole saw filer which is really cool! Not sure if I'll be able to...

Any hacksaws NOT made in China?

Looking for another hacksaw. I've looked at Lenox, Milwaukee, Klein, Greenlee, DeWalt. ALL are made in China. I'm going to buy a Swedish Bahco 325 if I can't find an equally good made in USA hacksaw. Are there any?

Replacement gun for HF blast cabinet.

I bought an HF blast cabinet some time ago and did basically all the upgrades touted on youtube, lighting, media pickup from bottom of hopper, glass, dust extraction, footpedal. The only thing I stuck with is the HF gun. I couldn't see how the aftermarket guns could be substantially better...

Best 5" variable speed angle grinder under $200?

Looking to buy a 5" VS grinder, Metabo, Bosch, Makita all look decent but all have some surprising negative reviews. Not interested in 4-1/2, I have a half dozen of those already (none VS). Any opinions?

    Unusual uses for a press?

I have a small Dake hydraulic press (unfortunately chicom not REAL Dake) and of course I use it for pressing bearings etc in or out or for straightening bars, plate etc. Here's one thing I made which is kinda foo-foo but it does solve a problem. The problem of throwing away that last tiny...

    Best long nosed pliers?

Guys, I've lost my favorite pair of long nosed pliers (or needle nose if you prefer), used in my garage for general and automotive type work (rather than electrical where strength is not important). This old pair really resisted racking well and had a tight no gap fit between the jaws. What...
