    Does heating a spring to bend it lose its temper?

    I want to make a custom spring out of a garage door spring for a project. If I heat it with my torch shape it to what I need and let it cool slowly. Will it still retain its spring tension? BCD. Thanks

    Tapping fluid

    I've been working with a lot of aluminum the last couple of days including tapping and tried 3 different tapping fluids and found the stuff in a green can called A9. This stuff is excellent and found it to be the best. I recommend it. And it has a nice smell too. BCD.
