New house and Garage. I want to do the lighting correctly

It's a 1,100 sq ft garage with 9' ceiling. This will be finished in sheet rock. I want good lighting to work on vehicles and various projects and would like the lights mounted to the ceiling for the most clearance. I will have in-floor heat and plan on spending a lot of time out there working...

LED lights suggestion for my shed

Forgive me if this has been discussed multiple times before, but my searching has not come up with any "newer" suggestions. Many are two years or more old and are not relevant to my ceiling height and bulb type (LED's), etc. I have a new 36' x 56' shed with 14' ceilings. I want to put LED...

Hanging cabinets in a pole barn

My pole barn has 6"x6" columns every 8 feet. I plan on finishing the walls with OSB and painting them. Is OSB strong enough to hold up cabinets? I mean heavy cabinets, they are from a hospital and they measure 48" wide an 42" tall with 2 shelves. They must be 100#'s. Thanks

    What are these supports?

I am referring to the angled supports next to the fellow near the ceiling. I want to tin and insulate the ceiling and insulate and finish the walls. How can this be made to look nice with these angles supports there, and why don't I see these on anyone else's shed? [/IMG]

Working with steel liner for the ceiling

My shed has trusses 8' on center (OC), I am thinking hanging 2"x4"'s spaced every 3' for nailers using joist hangers. My shed is 36' x 56' x 14' high. A couple of questions: 1). Are 16' pieces of liner too much to handle easily or should I order 84- 8' pieces? 2). Whatever I buy, should I add...

Suggestions on heating my pole shed

I just built a 36' x 56', 14' high pole shed. I plan on pouring concrete next spring. I need advice on how to heat it. I was thinking of putting in radiant floor heat, but after reading on this site, I am a little hesitant since I have read that I would really need to keep it heated pretty...

How much weight will my trusses hold for installing ceiling and insulation

I've read a lot about people using OSB and plywood as their ceiling in the sheds. My questions is: Is this too much weight for my trusses? My shed: 36' x 56', 14' walls, trusses centered with 8' spacing. Trusses: 30 lbs/square foot top chord live load (TCLL) 4 lbs/square foot top chord dead...
