    Monster Drill Press at Shasta

I think this thread is in the right place. Admin move if not..thanks. Just got back from a trip to NorCal. Stopped at Old Town Shasta State Park (west of Redding) to grab a sandwich at Shorty's Eatery. Walked out and found this six foot tall drill press at the blacksmith shop next door...

    Small nested Screwdriver

I have this nested screwdriver that belonged to my dad. The barrel is brass and there no identifying marks anywhere on the tool. Possibly a custom made piece? My dad was famous for picking up tools from pawn shops in downtown LA. Don't know if this is one of them or not. Anybody seen one...

    Unknown Logo-3 wrenches

Also found these in the bottom of my dad's toolbox. No markings on them except for a logo that appears to be a "T" and a "V" inside a shield. Checked Vintage-Alloy and didn't find anything. There appears to be something stamped on the middle wrench, but is unreadable (to me). Anybody seen...

    J.H. Williams Wrench--Interesting

Attached are pics of a J.H. Williams & Co., Brooklyn, NY that I have. According to Vintage-Alloy web page this wrench was made sometime between 1884 and 1914. Probably belonged to my grandfather(for 20 years, 1899-1919, he was a switchman on the MKT and Frisco railroads in TX) and ended up in...

    Craftsman "V" series question

I've seen several posts about Craftsman tools with the "V" on them. I checked the Craftsman sockets, ratchets and accessories that I have. Some belonged to my dad and some I bought over the years. All of the pieces I own have a "V" on them. What exactly is the significance of the "V" on...

    A Couple of Interesting Tools

The first is what is called a Drill Wrench made by the Moline Drill Co., which is apparently still in business. I researched a bit and found that a "Drill" is apparently a piece of farm machinery (??). I picked it up at a farm auction in Irvine, CA, over 40 years ago. I finally got around to...

Craftsman Drill Press 101-03622 Circa 1940

Attached are several photos of the drill press that belonged to my father, who bought it new about 1940. He gave it to me in 1970. I've attached a few photos. My question concerns the front On/Off switch. It has never worked as there is an on/off switch on the motor (original). When I asked...

    Anyone Recognize this Vise?

I've seen quite a few members mentioning vises and was wondering if anyone recognizes the one i have. I've had it almost 17 years. It is only has 4" jaws, but works really well. Originally red in color with a small anvil horn. Has the inscription "C B & F Co", "No.40" on one side and...

    Benchtop Bandsaw??

New to the forum and as I browse and see member's workbenches I've seen some bench top band saws, like the Ryobi from HD. Is this a good little band saw for occasional work? How does it hold up? Problems? Other brand along the same line? I know that a small one like this won't resaw, but I...

    Hello from Southern California

Just joined the forum. Right now my garage is sort of a mess due to two major woodworking projects and grandkid's wheeled devices. When the projects are finished there will be a major cleaning and renovation project. I am somewhat of a tool nut:shocking:. Most of my collection are my...
