Question about using an Oxyacetylene torch outfit that has been sitting unused for 35 + years.

Hey guys, I'm helping clean up my Dad's stuff after his passing. One item I have, my Dad bought an oxyacetylene torch setup at an estate auction in 1980. This makes me think the set is probably from the 1970s, or possibly earlier. I used to use it a lot, but have not touched it in probably 35...

Vintage, unopened Craftsman Tool Set.. Opinions on age?

My Mom gave me an unused Craftsman tool kit that my Dad had bought and stashed away in the attic several years ago. It still has the brown paper wrapping the tools and the packing list in the box. Also has a brochure for Craftsman torque wrenches. No bar code on the papers. It is a pretty basic...

I got snakes in my car! YIKES!

I have been working on my 64 Fury disc brake conversion this summer when I have time. My 67 Coronet has been sitting under a car cover in the garage since I last drove it in late May. Anyway, I pulled the cover off today with intentions of charging the battery and getting it out to clean up. Uh...

    Weird toilet flapper issue.

Hey guys, this ain't in my garage, but I thought maybe somebody on here with experience can help figure this out. I replaced a leaking flapper about a month ago. The toilet is a spare bathroom and only gets flushed a few times a week. The replacement flapper is a red Fluidmaster that I purchased...

I cut open my air compressor tank. Take a look..

I watched a series of YouTube videos starting with this one: It got me to thinking about my old air compressor in my shop. I got it several years ago. It was well used, and I didn't know anything about it's history. It has served me well for my purposes which is mainly airing up tires...

Help me identify this old "mystery" tool, please.

I'm cleaning out my Dad's shed since he passed away. I have a pretty good tool knowledge, but found one that has me stumped. My Dad was into auto mechanics, and taught auto shop at a local high school for many years after his stint in the Army during the Korean era. His Dad was a fire fighter...

Opinions on the cheap HF torque wrench?

I need a 3/8 drive torque wrench to use while swapping the intake manifold on a my 4.6 Ford. All I have is a very old 1/2" torque beam type. Thinking of picking up a cheap click type from HF. Anybody used these? Any good? Thanks...

Where can we find VCT with numbers for elevator lobby?

Hey guys, not garage related, but work related for me. We have a multi story building, and had to abate the old VCT on the 3rd floor. There are numbered tiles at the elevator doors on every floor, but the ones for this floor got destroyed during abatement. I have not been able to find a source...

    1/2" drive Armstrong Tool Set

I was going through some stuff I inherited, and cleaned out an old toolbox. I found it to be a 1/2" drive set of Armstrong tools with both hex and square drive sockets. I cleaned it up a bit and found the remnants of the original packing slip in the box. Turns out the set is complete, less the...

    YIKES! Surprise Visitor....

So I was working under my 64 Plymouth last night. I went down to the garage this morning, and found I had a visitor. I guess he was trying to help me figure out the oil leak, but I'm glad I wasn't under there when he showed up! :D

Old Craftsman Hose Clamp Pliers.. Never worked right.. Backwards?

Heres a question for those that are familiar with old Craftsman tools. These pliers were in the tool set my Dad gave me when I was 14 years old, and just starting to work on cars. They appear to be for removing and installing the old spring type hose clamps. I have been using them for over 40...

Need advise on Daytona Mig.com and Italian mig welders

Anybody on here familiar with Daytona Mig.com? I have an old NAPA 110volt mig welder which is also the same as the old Marquette brand. From my internet research, I have only been able to find Daytona Mig as a source for replacement parts. Unfortunantly, I placed an order on 12/23/09, and have...
