How to drill large holes in steel?

I need to "lighten" my motor mount, as shown below. What's the best way to drill large holes like this in steel? I believe the metal is about 1/8" thick. I have a drill press, if that helps...

    Converting 3ph. compressor to 1ph?

How easy/hard is it to convert a 3-phase compressor to single phase? Just swap out the motor? I see a ton of 3ph. compressors on Craigslist and they're typically cheaper than the single phase units, plus they seem to sit for awhile. I assume this is because 3ph. units are more difficult to sell...

    Can I MIG without tanks?

I have a MIG welder (Miller 250) but yet learned to weld. Been reading everything I can get my hands on, but it's a slow learning curve when you're busy with other stuff. I don't feel comfortable hooking up bottles of explosive gasses when I don't know what the heck I'm doing, so I'm wondering...

    Who calibrates torque wrenches?

I have quite a few torque wrenches, new & used, that I'd like to have calibrated for peace of mind. What type of shop offers this service? Tool repair? I looked in the Yellow Pages, but didn't find anything. Do I have to ship to some kind of service center? Or better yet...how to DIY?

    Powdercoating question?

I'm planning on painting the centers of my 3-piece wheels. The paint is an odd color (BBS/Wurth Gold), only available via one source. Unfortunately, I don't think the paint will hold up under regular use, so I was thinking about having a "clear" powdercoating applied on top of it. So...question...

All I have are part #'s and can't seem to find them on the corresponding websites. Perhaps they're discontinued? Snap-On L872-TQR 600C Proto 6014C Thanks!

How do you make this bend?

I am trying to reproduce this piece. It is a rear shelf for a race car that fits over the space where the rear seat used to be. It is a little over 3' wide. The first pic is a side shot of the bend in question. The second pic is looking at the piece from underneath. So, my question is, how do...

    Craftsman torque wrench - repair/replace?

Has anyone returned a Craftsman torque wrench under warranty? Do they typically repair or replace them? I let my friend borrow it and he decided to use a "cheater" bar on it... :wtf:

"Balanced" wire wheel? Is there such a monster?

I have a large HF 8" bench-mounted grinder/buffer combo (p/n 92425, no longer made...wimpy replacement pictured below). It has a 3/4" arbor. With the grinding wheel and buffing pad in place, the thing runs perfectly smooth...I can set my martini on top without spilling a drop. However...when I...

What to do with all those aerosol cans???

Got tired of spray cans all over the place, under-foot, back of shelves, etc... Ripped down some 1 x 8's and used Simpson brackets to hold the shelving between doubled-up 2 x 4's:
