Gates powergrip heat shrink clamp for air lines

Anybody using these on their air lines? I've done mine and I'm happy with them, very non-intrusive. The thing is, they're only rated for coolant, I can't find any psi rating. I have a nitrogen setup for purging/pressure testing (goes up to 16 bar), so I'm going to test a couple and see how they...

New generation Chinese powder coating systems

I've noticed there is a bunch of new product coming from China, priced to plug the gap between the likes of Eastwood Dual Voltage guns and entry level pro brands like Colombia. In fact, for us here in the UK it's even worse. There's no middle ground, it's Eastwood and then Gemma/Wagner/Nordson...

Air dryer filter element shelf life

Do these things have a shelf life? I bought two new Walker oil/particulate filters off eBay and turns out they're 16 years old. I'm already onto the seller about it, but don't want to send them back. Practically speaking, do they actually have a shelf life or it's all manufacturer's bull?

Etching stains on metal after cleaning agent

Etching stains on lathe bed from cleaning agent/degreaser - is it permanent? I bought a lathe with toffee-like gunk all over the bed and was very hard to come off, even with cleaning agent (something similar to Simple Green. I must have been taking my time with it and little matte spots started...

Should I go for a floor or bench hydraulic press?

Time to pony up for my very own hydraulic press. After much consideration it all came down on these 2 models: http://www.mega.es/catalogo_automocion/catalogo_automocion_detalle.php?sIdioma=en&nIdCategoria=8...

    Hydrovane 5 motor coupling

I've just acquired a Hydrovane 5 compressor air end and after some good head scratching I realize I'm missing the coupling from the motor side. The way I understand it is the pump has a 20mm alloy coupling, the motor 24mm alloy coupling and in between sits the rubber spider. Well, I'm missing...

What is an exceptionally good 18 volt drill these days?

... and I mean one similar in performance (torque and battery usage per cycle) with the Snap on NiCD VersaVolt which I no longer have and miss it like crazy! Any of the new generation Li-Ion Makita/Bosch/etc. come even close? I would prefer one with electronic brakes is possible.

    jack trolley mod

I took it upon myself to mod my jack trolley into a smoother and quieter operation. That is, fitting some giant 125mm polyurethane/nylon wheels instead of the puny aluminium castors at the back. The only issue is to get the brackets turned on a lathe. How would you rate this job difficulty wise...

Steel castors on jack trolleys a nuisance?

Am I the only one who find the tiny aluminium/steel castors on jack trolleys a real nuisance? I always have to put a piece of cardboard on the ground first, otherwise the wheels will mark the pavement, and in my case even dig in because of the rounded rear swivels. Any real solutions? Can you...

    floor jack headache

Anybody here knows their way around a floor jack? About 2 weeks ago I found it on the floor leaking and thought it needs seals replaced. Because of lost oil, I had a hard time pushing the lift up but once I did it stayed up no problem. Now I'm pretty sure I just stored it sitting vertically...
