This all started because of a Table Saw...

Started by simply buying a new table saw. No where to put it, so became a “2 birds, one stone” situation as I also was out of room for my Milwaukee cordless tools as well. This is the original setup where this project took place. Original cordless tool storage. Currently additional tools...

My Take On Cordless Tool Storage...

Had much "analysis paralysis" over the last couple of weeks for cordless (and some corded) power tool storage. Didn't want to just throw them in drawer. Many nice examples of hanging under the cabinet, but mostly just drills and drivers... I need to store other stuff as well. Also thought about...

Welding table over wood, with a twist

Picked up this table for a steal.... Want to make it into a welding table. Already know about the fire hazard from putting a piece of metal on top and welding on that, so had a better idea. What if I were to cover the wood with sheet metal and then eight inches or so above that mount 1/4"...

First Steal of 2016...Should have worn a mask!

On Craigslist was advertised a Gladiator 6 foot, adjustable height, workbench with a 1.75" maple top and 3000lb capacity (yes, 3 THOUSAND POUNDS). Brand new in box. Amazon list price: $535 Met the seller.... it was actually the 8 foot workbench (same capacity). Amazon list price: $736 (!!!)...

Tired of tripping over cords (or I have too much time)

Embarked on another garage/motorcycle project that wasn't really necessary, but cured one of my bigger winter peeves.... constantly hurdling and/or tripping over those damn battery tender cords! I picked up four Craftsman 20ft retractable work lights on sale for $8 each. Cut both ends off...

Motorcycle Lift In The Floor (Pic Heavy)

The latest project has taken place over the last couple months. As I have gone back to shift work, makes these projects take longer. But its all done now... Insetting my motorcycle lift into the floor.... Sawed into my three year old garage floor with a rented concrete saw. Multiple cuts for...

    Question for the concrete guys

I want to inset a motorcycle table lift into my garage floor. Will end up being a 9'x4' hole cut into the 4" floor, then dug down to about 15". Heavy clay soil. What I was planning on doing is using 2x12 treated lumber around the perimeter of the hole, as forms. Pour a 4" slab on top of about...

Hanging a Hose Reel - Advice

I picked up a brand new Reelcraft 7850 hose reel on Craigslist for less than half of list price. Deal I couldn't pass up. The hose reel weighs near 50 lbs. Also bought a 340° swivel for the reel. That weighs 10 lbs. so total weight is 60 lbs. I want to hang this in the center of the garage...

Craigslist Find (Steal) of the Week!

Saw 20 minute old ad on Craigslist in Cleveland (Eastlake). Moving out of state (Arizona) and didn't want to take the tools with them. Female car builder, handy-woman, etc. Very nice and legit... I'm not a maker of fine wood products or anything, just need this stuff to cut plywood, rip boards...

Refurbing a Vise - What Is This

I picked up a really nice vise at a garage sale for $30. It just needs cleaned up and painted. Took it apart today and found the swivel lock to be frozen solid. The handle on the swivel lock was already bent up and in getting the swivel lock free I really booger-ed it up. Had to use a cut off...

My Six Month Garage Build - It's DONE! (In Pics)

Embarked on a project I have wanted to do for 10 years. Had to do a 24'x32' as that is the largest zoning will allow. Found a great builder who had it built in 4 days and another week to concrete. The building itself was finished in early November. Concrete sealed...

    Which Plywood For Wall Sheathing?

Have decided to sheath the interior walls of my new 24'x32' garage with plywood. I am aware of the ply v. OSB v. drywall debates (even the fire part) and have read many of them for the pros and cons of each, so I don't want to start that debate here... my mind is made up; plywood. Anyway, for...

Fitting 30" wide insulation into 24" rafters?

Pricing out insulation for the garage. R-13 in the walls, 15" wide... no problem...$200 total for all the walls. As far as the ceiling... 24" wide R-30 is completely outrageous at $40 per roll. I can get 15" wide, R-30 for $11.87 per roll. Would there be any issues with stuffing two rolls...

    Another new guy from Ohio...

Been lurking for a few months. Have gotten some GREAT information here for my recent build. The garage itself is done, finishing the gravel driveway this weekend. Now on to outfitting, electrical, gas, heat, insulation, etc. Will be around here everyday to get some good ideas for this part. My...
