Teaching a New Welder - What Do You Wish You Had Been Shown?

Troubleshooting was valuable to me. But, if she can stick weld, she can probably mig weld without much help. I'd move her to TIG.

Advice on buying a new Mig Welder

I have gas on my little 110 Lincoln and it works fine until the metal gets thick. I welded a lot of quarter panels with it for sure. I still use it to tack parts when I can't get them close enough to my welding table. I think you'll find it does most of what you'll need.

Advice on buying a new Mig Welder

I've got the Primeweld mig and tig machine along with a small Lincoln 110v. I like Lincoln so I looked pretty hard at the red stuff, but oddly enough, the primeweld duty cycle was better (not that I'd hit it.) I've welded on a lot of nice mig machines and the Primeweld does just fine.

Steel building garage door weatherstripping replacement

I'm trying to find some replacement weatherstripping for the sides of my garage doors on my steel building. Looks like a hard u channel that takes a rubber seal, but I need to replace the whole thing. The hard plastic U channel goes on either side of the door rail hardware and it's sort of...

    The Horologist’s Shop

Not on that level, but I play around with custom Seiko divers. And I'd have pretty limited use for it, but that little steamer on the sink would be great to have.

    Painting an Airplane

I know you're trying to do this on the cheap, but I'd suggest you reach out to your group of friends and see if anyone knows an automotive painter. Painting, like welding, isn't super difficult, but you need to know what stuff looks like and how to adjust when you see it going wrong. I'm...

How bad of a foundation is this gravel pad for my Tuffshed and should I spend an arm and a leg fixing it?

If you are particularly worried about it, put some additional blocks under it across the floor joists. But, I probably wouldn't worry about it.

New to welding. Looking for gas cylinders.

I bought a set off amazon and just exchange them locally. If not, you have to setup a lease. If you can find some off craigslist, someplace might take them on exchange, but you never know.

    Giving away tools?

I'd probably find a local high school votech that could use them or get them to a kid who could use them. You could also pawn them if you don't want to mess with selling them online.

Big @ fan. Is it worth the premium? And why?

I would agree with this. I have a couple of 16" vornados in my shop and they are very good fans. Doesn't hurt that they're made right down the street.

I need internet wireless router tech help.

This one's probably solved, but in cases like this I generally lock down the ports off of auto to a set speed (100Mbps, 1Gb). If that doesn't work, I upgrade the firmware. If that doesn't work, you've got incompatible parts or a bad physical connection. If the physical tests good, then I open...

Thanks... I may go grab a set of these for the kids. I wish the overdrives would go on sale.

Garage looks too big, so my boss says. Any design ideas appreciated.

I'd put some planters in front of the two wide columns (middle and far edge) with something that's green all year round (possibly fake). Then I'd put a planter in all along far side to break up that large wall with something in the middle (pencil holly but they grow SLOW) or some other...
