What am I doing wrong?? Blower wiring for fan

You may be able to find a wiring diagram for the air handler that it came out of. When you get it running your going to need to block about half of the opening on the side that the motor doesn't stick out of. That's if there's no ductwork, not enough load like I mentioned before. Best way is to...

What am I doing wrong?? Blower wiring for fan

Was it out of the squirrel cage when you test ran it? These motors need a load on it to run correctly, out of the housing and no fan on it will overspeed and fry the bearings. If it just smoked and didn't spin at all the capacitor may be bad. If you have a multimeter with a mfd setting its easy...

    Home A/C Question...

After 7 visits and not fixing the problem you need to talk to whoever is a manager or in charge at this warranty company because it sounds like they are trying to make good, but their HVAC contractor is ripping them off. Explain it to them like that and they might get you a real HVAC technician...

    Home A/C Question...

I'm sorry but if the problem could be easily diagnosed over an internet msg board then the person that has been out there 5 times would have been able to find the problem. One thought is the thermostat, if its digital the batteries may be dying and after running for a while they can't hold the...

    Home A/C Question...

Sounds like both of you need to find new ac guys. James, unplugging the indoor part is just resetting the controller, if it was the breaker then the breaker would be tripped. Ironcat, if the fan in the condenser is running then the thermostat likely isn't the problem, it is possible if it...

    Vintage Kenmore heater Restoration

One part, heat exchanger, its often model specific and can't be repaired. All other parts can be replaced with commonly available universal parts. There's even upgrades available to switch to an intermittent spark ignition pilot.

air conditioning the garage with central ac

Having the ductwork from the house HVAC system connected to the garage is unsafe and illegal. The wall between is a firewall, and then there's carbon monoxide and other fumes from the garage. I know its been said in this thread before but if anyone does choose to ignore a building code that's...

    Vintage Kenmore heater Restoration

That thing is in rough shape, not all of the pics are showing up for me but the one with the pilot assembly shows that its more rust then steel. Heat exchangers can't be repaired, if there are any cracks or rust holes any at all, its not safe and must be replaced. If you can find one for it, I...

Advice on weather to replace water heater or service it..

If the pilot won't even light its likely the pilot orifice is plugged, its in the pilot assembly down near the burner. A little compressed air should clear it out, just pull it out and clean it up. If it was the thermocouple it would light but go out as soon as you let go of the button. If you...

No anger on my part, its just an unfortunate side effect of the format. Text can only get across an idea, its missing facial expressions and inflection of the voice. No hard feelings. So obviously you are an accountant at a successful HVAC company? Like I said before if you believe you can make 200 dollars an hour installing furnaces, you'd be foolish to not run out start your own company and underbid everyone else by half, you'll still be making 100 bucks an hour. Be sure to...

Oh and for the r-22 being made untill 2020, that's only 7 years away and the price has gone up every year since the switch. It just makes sense to use the new stuff. Say you do install an r22 unit today and in ten years you need to add a little refrigerant, what's the price per pound going to...

My friend, you answered your own question. There are so many startups and failures because they have been way less then steller in their work and service. It's also because most one guy and a truck companies are started by a service tech that is great at fixing things but has no idea how to run...

The price for an electric furnace is way different then a gas furnace. Any responsible HVAC contractor doesn't install the dry r-22 systems anymore because r-22 is being phased out. Dry condensers are to replace an existing condenser that has had some kind of problem like being pressure washed...
