    Show us your VFD conversions/installations

1943 Wade 8a (Serial #407) Second Operation Lathe. Teco L510 single phase 220 to 3 phase 220 powering a 2hp motor. Vintage controls + tons of learning how to properly configure the VFD = Vintage look and feel with contemporary results. Most importantly, it makes chips. :) When I got it, circa...

    South Bend lathe taper attachment

I realize this is an old thread. Some of us actually use the Search feature. :) I have a similar taper attachment, model 200. Some additional Googling came up with this ad from a 1946 printing of Popular Mechanics magazine. Make with the clicky thing. Cool old lathe accessory, IMHO. :)

Review: Harbor Freight US General 56" rolling cabinet

Years have gone by which is the exact point of my post. How is the longevity and sustainably of the US General boxes? Casters are easy and cheap to upgrade. While interested in any caster failures, I'm much more interested in drawer and drawer bearing issues. My purpose is to house machinist...

Wanted: Press Brake for Shop Press

Defender makes a great point about time. My interest is the build itself and is a hobby. If it's a business, then obviously you don't want to spend time making tools. I'd have to agree. Again, good luck!

Wanted: Press Brake for Shop Press

Personally, I think you should. An angle is easy enough to mill on a straight line. Do the other side to your liking and viola. You've got yourself a great break. Not to mention. YOU BUILT IT. Also, what are you talking here. 16 gauge, 14? Sheet steel? Aluminum? Honestly. The "business" end of...

Wanted: Press Brake for Shop Press

Can you weld? If so, just make the thing. It's a piece of angle iron w/ supports. I made one and it's quite easy. Does it look great? Well, it would if I wanted to grind and paint it. Does it work? Yeah, and it only cost like $10 in SCRAP. Hell, I'll make you one for 200, free shipping. What color?

Finally made some progress on the garage..Pics included

Looks great. As a Shelby fan I'd be VERY proud to donate 250 to a good cause in his name. The voluntary signature would just be icing on the cake. (Who knows. That donation may save my life, or my kids', one day.)

Why do wrench sets have missing sizes?!

SOME are the same as their SAE equivalent. Like the 3/4" will work on a 20mm. Not perfect, but damn close. Still, I have filled in the missing ones, when needed and ticks me off when I have to as well. SAE to Metric Conversion
