18 guage, 16 maybe? A smooth hand, a decent nibbler, and a brake, and that could be made pretty easily. Less than $20 (with time included) I doubt. But, could be made all the same. Me personally, I'll pay the $20 and save the time. Just my 2¢.

Also, knowing where you're located would help in the decision making. e.g. If you live in Northern Canada you may need some heating where in SOCAL, not so much.
