What do you wish you had done differently when you built your shop?

Radiant heat in the concrete floor. The floor area stays too cold. And plumbing. It's a real hassle to get water out to my shop.

Where do you point your overhead heater louvers?

I adjust mine so the air is directed down. My shop is cold towards the concrete floor.

    Eastwood 135amp welder.

I've had an Eastwood 135 for a couple years and haven't had any problems. It does well with sheet metal. I ended up buying it from Eastwood through Ebay. On sale and with free shipping.

Above 1200 Sq/FT The Never Ending Retirement Garage/Shop Projects

I might have missed, but why did you take off the ko wheels for judging? I noticed that they were originally ordered for the car. Were they not the original wheels? Love the color combo. I always liked the red w/white or red w/red. I can remember when the BB's first were introduced. They...

Can someone school me on how to fix this leaky faucet?

If it has a set screw, sometimes they can be hard to see. On my bathroom faucet I had to use a small mirror to see it as it was on the back of the handle, which was close to the wall.

What do you use to line your toolbox?

I use corrugated cardboard, cut to fit. I've done it to all of mine. It was put in my oldest tool chest/box when I bought it new in 1979. Still in there and in good shape. The price was right also.

    Aluminum F150 pictures from NAIAS

That's what I was thinking. I'd hate to see the insurance premiums on one of these trucks.

Tools you wonder why you ever bought

What gets me is buying tools that I already have. I did this the other day. I spent $35 on a tool because the one I had not put in the correct drawer. I didn't discover this until I had used the new one so I couldn't return it.

No problem so far. If needed, run a couple screws as stops.

    HF MIG cart upgrade thread

I raised my welder with a piece of plywood to provide enough clearance to open the side door.

    Log splitter hydraulic hose

I have a log splitter and one of the hoses is leaking oil. It is a .625" id hose that runs from the oil tank to the valve. It doesn't appear to be a high pressure line and is clamped with hose clamps. Someone has used a heater hose for this and I was thinking that I would need an oil-resistant...

    Electric heat

This is basically the same unit as I have, as discussed in eariler post. Mine is from the late 70's and the new one looks to have not changed much. Mounting and thermostat are different. My heater has been installed in three different garages and has served me well.

    Electric heat

I have one 5kw heater in my 32x24 post frame w/wall and ceiling insulation. If it's 30 or above, it heats good to around 63 degrees (where I set it) although it takes 2 or 3 hours to heat to a comfortable level. The more steel you have stored in the area (cars, etc.), the longer it takes to heat...

    Anyone use Eastwoods MIG welders?

    Radial arm saw adjustment froze

I'm a little confused on the lubrication of the sleeve. Should I use any type of oil, paste wax, or leave dry?

    Radial arm saw adjustment froze

It finally came off! I was barely able to get a scissor jack between the two aluminum housings and, with a helper, that did it. It was not corroded. As zkling had suggested, it was like glue covering the surfaces. Thanks to all for all the good suggestions. It is much appreciated.

    Radial arm saw adjustment froze

Wards Power Kraft TPC 2610A. The inner sleeve is run up and down by a large screw which is turned by a pinion gear attached to a hand crank. There is a plug in the outer cylinder that applies tension to the inner sleeve that was also froze up. I was able to loosen it up an back it away but there...

    Radial arm saw adjustment froze

I picked up a free radial arm saw that works but the vertical adjustment is froze up. I believe that the saw has not been used in awhile. I've already freed-up a couple of other adjustments that were stuck. This one is a tough one though. The vertical beam where the adjustment is made consists...

This was originally my Dad's. It's reported to be from 1955 and manufactured by Packard Electric. I had to replace the switch a few years ago.
