Lets make an all vintage Snap-on tool picture thread!

Cross posted from the "growing DBE" thread. After a long wait a set of six metric Snap-On XM "Boxocket" flank drive DBE's came up for sale on ePay. Probably over paid at $179, but single wrenches in lesser condition usually sell for around $25-$30 each with shipping. No date codes found on...

My small but growing DBE wrench collection

After a long wait a set of six metric Snap-On XM "Boxocket" flank drive DBE's came up for sale on ePay. Probably over paid at $179, but single wrenches in lesser condition usually sell for around $25-$30 each with shipping. No date codes found on these, but I suspect from the early to mid...

    Bonney Ratchet

Thread revival 5+ years later. Do Dayton or Herbrand parts interchange with 702K series rats? Wanting to convert single ridges to tri wings. Sorry if this has been discussed before. Images below taken from eBay. TIA

RTM. your 18 piece (B-80336) set can be found in the 1986 catalog. It is NOT a "Richard Petty" set as the eBay seller describes. Missing TLH-20R 5/8" spark plug socket. https://www.ebay.com/itm/164892058779

    Spreading the Bonney affliction!

Chrysler MTSC angle wrench set came with a fugly gold lined wrench roll, not a presentation box. I have every intention of using them, especially at $29 shipped. As for displaying the wrenches, I'll find a good place to hide the roll even though it's in pristine condition. Tacky IMO...

    Spreading the Bonney affliction!

Bought these Bonney/Chrysler MTSC metric angle wrenches because of their scarcity, price, and for occasional use. Thought I would clean them hoping it would not further damage the faux gold plating. Never used Barkeepers Friend for tool cleaning and gave it a try. Mixed with water into a thin...

^ OK, HAHA. So do I get at least half a "you ****", or an "attaboy" now? ;)

My small but growing DBE wrench collection

Not as bad as I thought. First and only time I've seen and handled it was unpacking the set from eBay with black particles falling on the floor. If anything it's heavily soiled and the cloth pull straps are toast. No intention of using it for mobile work, although it may look nice to display the...

My small but growing DBE wrench collection

That's a different "angle" and I never thought about IT that way. I need to find another way to earn brownie points. ;) Thanks for the advice. I'll just loosely roll it in a paper bag and store it for another 90 years for someone else to find.

I know these Bonney CV single offset DBE's have been posted in this thread, but wonder if these qualify for a "you ****". These will be users and would appreciate suggestions how to preserve the 90+ year old "leatherette" roll from further deterioration. https://www.ebay.com/itm/384063534232...

Zerk fittings - how far to tighten?

^ Oops! You are absolutely correct. How could I confuse red vs. blue? I avoid heat activated RED thread lock compound unless they are larger fasteners that are notorious for coming loose. Brake caliper adapter bolts come to mind when they have been loosened for removal and improperly torqued...

Zerk fittings - how far to tighten?

On angled fittings the zerks have the tendency to come loose and leak grease. I'd suggest removing and applying a tiny drop of red Loctite. These are factory sway bar frame brackets I tapped. Sure beats removing them to add grease every couple of years.

    Spreading the Bonney affliction!

Just for kicks copied and pasted my first private message here and the beginning of my Bonney Tools interest. Incidentally, the Bonney set mentioned below sold on eBay for $77 + shipping. A LOT has changed in two years for Bonney Tools demand, and I wouldn't be surprised if a clean MDB set...

    Spreading the Bonney affliction!

^ YOU are definitely the person that got my "Bonneyfliction" started. Thing is 90% of my saved searches on eBay begin with the word Bonney. Being in Hawaii most of the new listing alerts are posted between 3AM and 4AM HST. Guess who's waking up before 3AM EVERY morning? LOL Fun hobby though, and...

Thanks. Rings could use a little cleaning but they're pretty nice. Really want these as users but damn. LOL Found that a brass bristled pipe cleaner or battery terminal cleaner works quite well to clean box ends.

    Spreading the Bonney affliction!

Found these "holy grail" long metric MDB's at a garage sale last weekend and I'm still pinching myself. Real coincidence since I recently had a discussion about these with another GJ member via email. Almost tempted to sell them if they can bring in what I'm thinking. We'll see. Interesting...
