    I have tried to use the compression couplings sold in the local orange big box store to repair some existing irrigation lines in my wife's flower beds it's 5/8" tube. I cannot get the tube to go into the coupling any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

    Those blades are dull, they have four edges you may find an unused set. If not they need to be ground if they have been sharpened a lot you may need to shim under the bottom blade to make it flush with the bed.It's foolish to try to DYI this send it out to a grinding shop.

    My drill press has a DC motor and speed controller so I change speed every time I use it. I think that would rather change belts than sharpen burned up drills.

    Thoughts on this Eastwood sheet metal brake

    Before we can comment on the capabilities of the DiAcro brake we need the definition of a crisp bend. 16 gage is heavy enough that for a really crisp bend you would need to coin it in a press brake.

    You do realize that most of those low rider cars have big wheels and small tires. Kind of ruins a nice car.

    I don't know what a killowatt hour of electricity costs were you live it's $.35 here in Norcal. I use a 6kw electric heater to heat my 400 sq.ft shop. Works well, no open flames or stink from fuel, the heater was about $300.00 from the internet. Just something for you to consider.

    You said that you are building a press brake to do this project you may want to incorporate a back gage set up into your design. Repeatability is most important for multiple part projects. One of the things that you must know to calculate your blank size is the bend radius your tooling will...

    If you want to bend 5' wide sheet metal you might want to consider a used press brake. I don't think you can build something that will bend that wide with one cylinder.
