As you say, it probably varies from state to state, but here in Minnesota the drain would definitely have to connect to the septic to pass code.

I'm fairly new here also, but one thing I would highly advise...don't do 9x7 doors. At least 9x8's. With 9x7's, you can't even get some full sized pickups in them. 9x8's are the standard around here and many people are going to 10x8's or 10x9's. Good Luck!

Does the name "Rupp" have anything to do with Rupp snowmobiles? 1975 Rupp Nytro with Sunburst Kohler...one of my favorite snowmobiles...sold it and bought a 1975 Yamaha GPX-433 because I thought the Yamaha would be more dependable. Had more trouble with the Yamaha than I ever had with the Rupp.

One thing you didn't mention is how long you plan to stay there. Most people stay in a house for about 7-10 years (even if they say they are going to stay there "forever"). I don't know where you are located, but around here (MN), mobile homes depreciate and stick built homes appreciate...

Are you going to spray foam 12 inches thick? If so, BIG $$$. Keep in mind, spray foam is only about R5 per inch.

Ceiling with insulation... 3 inches of foam is about R 15 14 inches of blown cellulose is about R 50

One thing I noticed... I think the door entering the bathroom should swing against the other wall...still swing inward, but with the hinges on the right side while standing in the shop facing the door. The way it swings now, it would be hard to slide by it to get to the toilet/shower.
