    The VISES of Garage Journal

Here is a versa vise set up for doing gun work although it isn’t on the bench. As you can see the back jaw has been modified to swivel. I just made wooden inset jaws to accommodate tapered work instead. Jim

I actually contacted someone at Wilton I think (it was a couple 6years ago) and they were very helpful. They sent me that, and it got mine up and running. It was low on oil. Glad it helped. Jim

    The VISES of Garage Journal

It is a vise usually mounted on the right end of the bench not on the face. Used with bench dogs it can hold boards flat on the top of the bench for various tasks. Some are wooden and built as part of the bench. Jim

Speaking of small vises, I found my unicorn vise. Even though I was closing my shop and moving to Maine giving away and selling tools right and left (yes I parted with several large vises and an anvil) when a friend asked me to go with him to look at and possibly buy some tools from a friend...

Vise and Grinder stands. I'm looking for ideas on how to use several in limited space

Here are the pics of the base. The column was drilled and tapped to mount the chair. I'm not a metal worker but I do the best that I can. I had some 3/8" aluminum that I drilled to match the hole spacing on the column and then I used lag screws to fasten it to the laminated wooden top...

Vise and Grinder stands. I'm looking for ideas on how to use several in limited space

Drives, I do like that anvil stand, but I wonder how it might restrict the use of the anvil. I think I would want the horn facing the other way. Any info on the Swedish anvil? I have one made in Sweden. The base for the grinder is original to the grinder. The wheels were added by the previous...

Vise and Grinder stands. I'm looking for ideas on how to use several in limited space

Sorry I can't help with any advise Randy. I alway was hoping to get a Ritter base as that is my family name, but no relation to the company. I have another base waiting to be repurposed after we get moved. It is an electric hydraulic model made by White if I remember correctly. It too lost some...
