    Black Friday Purchases?

Needed a phone as my current Moto G4 is just shutting down for no apparent reason. Battery always still shows sign of life. Anyway I am a cheapskate so went with a cheap Chinese mobile phone which seems to have good specs and was £90 cheaper on Black Friday. It is a Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro. Should do...

Tools you long for but can't justify

Currently in the process of buying a mid rise scissor lift for my single home garage. Its a lot of money for me and it is definitely a "want to have" rather than a "must have". I don't spend much on clothes, dont drink or go out often, don't gamble, don't have fancy cars so this is my treat to...

    The making of a table

My dad and his mate were putting in timber posts up at our football pitch one evening. My dad on the sledge and his mate holding the posts. For some reason my dads mate thought my dad had finished hammering and set his hand on top of the post with my dad in mid swing. Queue one badly broken/...

    Lumber prices going down

Prices are going crazy over this side of the Atlantic as well. Covid and Brexit are being blamed. Everything is going up in price except my wages! More people not being able to go on holidays has led to them spending their money on upgrading their houses, adding extensions, building extra...

Tested: Does a Cordless Impact Beat an Equivalent Air Impact Wrench?

Havent touched my air impact in about 4years I reckon. I am only a hobby/ DIY user so anytime I need an impact wrench its always the cordless as it means i havent to fire up the compressor, pull airline out etc etc. If i was in a professional garage with constant air then it would probably get...

    Learned what not to do

Do standard sockets/ outlets in the US not have a switch? I've never seen/ heard of anything like this happen personally over here. Not that it ever hasn't to someone. Also very hard to dislodge a plug from our socket even by yanking on it due to the wire coming in at the bottom of the plug...

Should I Get Rid of the Concrete Lip by Garage Door?

My garage had the lip outside the garage door so anytime it rained the place got soaked inside. Previous owners had replaced the up and over door with a roller door which sat back 6inches from the lip. I ended up cutting the floor back and forming a step further back. I will put up with the...
