    When you replace the switch the arcing should go away. As for preventing this from happening again....you could take some current readings on the motor and see if it isn't drawing too much for the switch to safely handle.

    Out of calibration? I honestly don't think the tool knows the difference between an impact socket and a standard one. Talk to your SO driver.
