    Regular old homeowner's garage?

Floor done, I went with Epoxy-coat in gray with the standard black/white/gray paint flecks. I added a bag of Behr flecks from Home Depot that were black/white/gray and had little metallic flecks also to make it look cool. I'm sure I will hate the metallic as soon as I drop a washer for a...

    Regular old homeowner's garage?

Sorry but nope. I did my last garage with nothing more than pressure washing and etching and 10 years later when I moved out it was still perfect.

    Regular old homeowner's garage?

I don't give my floor a heavy workout, maybe roll the floor jack across it or scratch it with motorcycle kickstands is the most abuse it gets. I did my last house, nice 3-car garage, in Epoxy-Coat that I got from CostCo. It worked out great, and wasn't too pricey for true (not water-based)...

Scored a free full size Coke machine - NOW WHAT?!

A guy was moving out of state and the movers wouldn't move his Coke machine so I got a freebie! He said it works fine, works on both cans and bottles, and it is set for a quarter a drink. Unfortunately that's all I know. Can anyone give me a class on Coke machines, please? There are some...

    Whalen Storage Workbenches, shelving units

I have four of their 6' tall shelving units and really like them. The only quality issue I ever had was one of the braces had the rivets installed a little low, I'm sure if I called them they would send me a new one but I just installed it on one side and put a screw from underneath into the...

    Costco Arcan 3.5 ton jack

And it keeps going... I bought one yesterday and used it to rotate the tires on my truck after my Craftsman Professional high-lift one died. The Arcan is HEAVY, holy **** this thing weighs a lot, but I don't plan on every carrying it again now that it's on the floor. It lifts pretty...

    sump pump relief hole

My sump pump actually did get air lock a couple of years ago, I drilled a hole and it hasn't happened since. I drilled it below water level but I can't see how it would make a difference.

Recommend Trimmer and Edger Combo for light duty

I got sick of dealing with 2-cycle gas and got a Craftsman 4-cycle straight shaft trimmer. It's heavier but I never carry it for more than maybe half an hour at a time so weight is a non issue for me. Like with the Stihl Kombi system, it uses the swappable attachments and they are fantastic...

Briggs & Strannon Runs only on starting fliud

Your pilot jet is clogged. Take the carburetor off and look for a very small brass screw underneath the float bowl, it may be sticking out a few mm. Take it out, it will have some very tiny holes in it that are probably clogged.

3M Dinoc switch and plug covers

That's my garage, in fact those are my hands in the video! I know the guy who owns carbonfiberfilm.com, he wanted to use a motorcycle I had for some install videos and while we were at it we did the switch plates in my garage. Somewhere on his site he used to have a video of installing trim...

    Motorcycle helmet storage

I never liked the idea of putting the helmet over anything like a mannequin head, I thought that would mash the inside foam down and make the helmet not as comfortable. I have a couple of shelves dedicated for riding gear (5 motorcycles in the garage), my storage method is keeping them in the...

    Auto battery float charger

I was a HUGE Battery Tender fan for years, easily a decade I'm sure. I told my friends to get them, I used them with everything, even included one with the sale of a used motorcycle. I still currently have 3 in the garage (tractor and 2 motorcycles) although I have discovered the Optimate 4...

    cleaning tools

Surface rust on chrome = 00000 (aka "five oh") steel wool. All ratchets should be rebuildable, probably via O-ring. Pop that sucker off, clean, regrease, and you have a new(ish) ratchet.

    Favorite spray lubricant

I am surprised that no one has mentioned Dupont Multi-Use with teflon. I learned about this stuff on motorcycles boards, I now use it for chains, footpeg pivots, garage door hinges, etc. I used it on an interior door once and it wouldn't stay closed after that. Really amazing stuff. Lowes...

    Shop pranks

Friend of mine works with a very large woman who always plays the same lotto numbers. Whenever there is a really huge payout everyone in the office gives one person cash and he goes and buys everyone's tickets. After one of these huge jackpots, he sends an email out to everyone with the...

    cordless drill

I can't believe no one has mentioned Bosch. I had a 14.4v Compact Tough for many years, recently upgraded to an 18v Litheon Brute Tough hammer, out of the price range you mentioned but the 18v Compact Tough (still has a 1/2" chuck) should be in that price range. I did a head-to-head with my...

who hangs their motorcycle for working on it?

In my old house I mounted a boat hitch to the wall and then some pulleys up to and on the ceiling so I could hoist bikes up. It looked a little odd but it worked great. This was mostly for working on older bikes like lighter weight CB350's but I'm sure it would work for all bikes. If I were...
