What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Been working for some time replacing wood rot on my camper. Abnormal high daytime loadshedding caused the job to be waaay longer than it shoud have been. Here is some remains of some of the rotten wood and also the new back frame fitted. Cannot carry on as there is loadshedding again.

How Upholstery Seat & Back Dinner Chair

That will work for the seat section, have done it myself. For the back rest you will most likely have to sew a pillow like sleeve and pull it over the sponge, tuck in and staple from below. Use the old material as template

Making a big hole in brick for hose bib

For a once off, this is what I have done. Get a piece of thick walled pipe of your required diameter, cut rough teeth on one end with angle grinder, place teeth side at required spot and hit with hammer, turning pipe in between blows. Takes time but works. You might have to cut new teeth on...

Removed fuel rack and injectors of Nissan Hardbody (VG30 engine). Purpose is to bench test injectors for possible blockage. Refuses to start thought at times there are attempts to fire up. There is spark and fuel up to the furl rack. So basically I am doing fault finding.

You are welcome Some advice when using. It works (for me) best over open flames. I just put enough kernels to cover the bottom of the colander. I found that I do not have to use any oil. You will hear the corn kernels start popping, first time for me it felt like ages before they did. When...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Had a small project for which I required to drill a hole length wise through a 2.5 inch section of a broomstick. As my lathe does not have a tailstock, I made an adapter to hold a drill chuck that fits on to the cross slide. Edit: Not 2.5 but 4 inch long broom stick

More cleaning of TS185 engine. All bearings run freely now. First had to fix a paraffin gun that was blocked due to lack of use.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Removed piston from conrod of the TS185 engine. Piston could not swivel on pin. Light hammering drove the pin and needle bearing from the rod. Cleaned pin and bearing with solvent. Bearing looks good with no signs of pitting or rust. Rings were stuck in groves but with lots of patience and a...
