Salvage my water heater with plugged drain?

Maybe I needed to run the hose longer going up the drain into the tank. However, it does look slightly wet on the bottom right and does not seem like the moisture is from the drain. Might need to replace it.

Salvage my water heater with plugged drain?

I have a water heater that wasn't drained yearly and now there's a rumbling sound when it turns on to heat the tank (because someone is using hot water). I tried to drain it and initially nothing came out. I found a lot of sediment in the drain so I used a coat hanger (no avail), and then went...

Tool chest on wheels with electronics locks?

Thanks. I think I found what you referenced as I found a link for that looks like it's called Ecko lock. Will check if they a setup that supports the smaller tool chests.

Tool chest on wheels with electronics locks?

Looking if there is a tool chest on wheels that does this. I have a Gladiator type today which is a 7 drawer on wheels about waist high. It has a lock on the top which is rather cheap and would like a way to lock per drawer or the whole setup so I don't have to carry a key. Not sure if there...

Shelf LAG bolt removal and re-insertion

It definitely is connected to the studs. The Garage studs were not the typical 16" apart. But it's in the studs today and I want to insert the pegboard in between the sheetrock and brackets and re-insert the lag into through all 3 to the studs.

Shelf LAG bolt removal and re-insertion

Good idea. I was mulling that idea too. Longer LAG bolt and maybe a wood spacer to stick under the pegboard so it's a solid hold. My main concern was pulling out that lag bolt and putting one back in the same slot. I'm fairly sure drilling new holes in the pegboard won't be as bad as I'm...

Shelf LAG bolt removal and re-insertion

If I had a strong shelf and I removed the lag bolts and then re-inserted new ones (or the same bolt)into the same hole (same size as before) and put the shelf back would that cause any concerns? Reason I'm doing this is I have some metal 24" depth shelves that can carry a heavy load (though I'm...

I've used those and they worked well when I needed black lags for an install of some heavy duty shelves.

Door unlocks but does not go to unlocked mode

I have a door with a typical door lock that has the solid dowel handle type. If I turn it up 45 degrees or down it will unlock the lock. It can actually go up to 90 degrees either way. I can turn it any direction and it will let me open the door from the inside. However, sometimes it will...

Smaller wall vents or fan inserts?

In California where I'm trying to keep dust and little insects from venturing into the garage through my garage vents. Was considering getting a screen with a smaller mesh size and overlay it over the existing mesh as most of the mesh I've seen online more or less appear to be the same size...

Why a single outlet in garage box?

Thanks all for the help. I was wondering if there was a technical reason to limit that outlet to a single. I'm going to swap it out for a dual outlet GFCI.

Why a single outlet in garage box?

Garage has electrical boxes behind sheetrock. Curious why they put a single in one part of the garage? 15A breaker controls two electrical boxes. The ceiling has a dual outlet with one connection for the Garage Door Opener. The other connection is not being used. The wall of the garage...

Spax Lag screws Hex vs. T-washer head

Spax Lag screws Hex vs. T-washer head

I've used the spax and GRK T-washer head to build some shelving in the past that attaches to studs through sheetrock. Now, looking at some pre-made shelves and (this time bought one with pre-made brackets). Shelves are 2' x 6' and the brackets stick out from the wall 2'. Is there any benefit...

Building a shed next to garage

Hi all, Thinking that building a wood shed next to my house-garage is a no-no due to termites. Building a metal or some sort of vinyl one is a better option. I have a small space and the commercial ones out there don't really fit or are out of stock so thinking about doing it myself. Shed...
