24x36 build with finished upper level

Yep it's definitely not big enough to be working on a crew cab truck. I've had a few cclb trucks in here to detail and it's not fun.

24x36 build with finished upper level

Totally agree on that. Sadly the super duty is gone :( Anyways. My goal is to have nothing permanent along the back wall of the garage so I can get the maximum usable length. It's a tight fit lengthwise with anything bigger than my 4Runner in there. At least as far as having room to actually work.

24x36 build with finished upper level

Yes. 2x12s 12" OC. The building was here when we bought the house. We don't know the exact age, but it's older than 30yrs.

24x36 build with finished upper level

Thanks! I blew insulation in the ceiling. It's a bit over a ft deep for what should be R38. It's done well this summer as far as being easy to cool. As far as the cabinets and the countertop I just feel as if they are somewhat trapped under the stairs. I've been thinking about building a wall...

It is. You can see in the one pic that they swing open.

24x36 build with finished upper level

So I wanted to start a thread on here to keep track of my garage and hopefully gain some ideas from the people on here. As an intro I bought a house this past January with a 24x36 detached garage. The upper level was completely unfinished and is now finished into a home office. The lower...

    Building a 28 x 30 deeper or longer?

I have a 24' deep by 36' wide. Definitely go as deep as you can. I hate the fact that mine is only 24' deep as it makes pulling a truck in and having room to work on it almost impossible.

Heating office above 24x36 detached garage

Jon, You pretty much went in to deeper explanation of why he wouldn't recommend a mini split for me. Central would be ideal, but sadly I don't have the knowledge to do it myself, and my HVAC buddy now lives 1000 miles away so that doesn't help. I think where we are at now is leaning towards a...

Heating office above 24x36 detached garage

Honestly I'll need to do more of my own research on the mini splits. I don't love the idea of baseboard heat either.

Heating office above 24x36 detached garage

I thought I wanted a mini split. I have a friend who is in HVAC and he said "I wouldn't sell one to someone I was friends with" That somewhat turned me off of them. He also recommended electric baseboards for heat, which I don't love the idea of.

Heating office above 24x36 detached garage

It will be very well insulated. It will also be used daily, and at night I would like to leave it heated, but not full temp. That way every morning it does not have to heat back up to comfortable temp and strain whatever system is being used. Propane definitely seems like a logical decision...

Heating office above 24x36 detached garage

Sorry about that... still haven't even filled out my profile. New here. I am in Eastern PA. So it gets pretty damn cold in the winter and hot in the summer! Wonderful. Makes sense on the open vent not being allowed.

Heating office above 24x36 detached garage

About to start working on my office project above my detached garage and trying to figure out HVAC for it. Currently downstairs the garage has a propane wall heater fed by a 250gal tank. I know for cooling upstairs we will be using window units. I am somewhat stumped on what to do for heat. I...
