    garage / workshop heater

I picked up a Sunstream style radiant kerosene heater that does a great job in my 24x30 garage. I am in Indy and it gets cold here.... The heater costs about $190-$200 and gets 6 hours of run time from a tank that looks to be around 3 gallons +/-. Bang for the buck it works good and keeps the...

I heard the new Modine is a condensing unit?

I just cant believe that a shop heater would have that kind of obvious design flaw.

I heard the new Modine is a condensing unit?

Sweet, that sounds lot easier than going through the roof or the plastic siding with a hot metal pipe. Did the price go up any?

I heard the new Modine is a condensing unit?

A buddy in the bizz mentioned that the new Hot Dawg uses a PVC exhaust and is a condensing unit...anyone here seen this or installed one?

    The Comfort Furnace Infrared Heater?

But...your tools and you are all "Objects", thats the point. Weedwaka, what type of heater do you have thats IR and you cant feel if you are near it? Sealed room or not, it does not matter, it is not heating the air. Post it up because we really need to know so nobody buys one on accident. O...

OK here is what I chose to heat the shop this winter.

I have a 110 salamander that can burn diesel also, but generally around here a horizontal tube with a fan that makes forced hot air is commonly known as a "Salamander". I have seen what you are describing, a friend has one in his barn. It is a pan with a pipe out the top that is about as tall...

OK here is what I chose to heat the shop this winter.

Wait wait...you heat your work area when you are not in it? I dont. I only need heat when I am working, I have nothing in the garage that gets damaged by a freeze. If you want the cheapest possible way to heat (other than firewood) get a VAL6. The initial cost ***** but it sips fuel.

OK here is what I chose to heat the shop this winter.

I would say that it does since it is burning fuel, how much I cant tell you.

    Questions-infrared radiant propane heater

I did not think it got that cold in south Mississippi to need heat? Anyway, I went with a kerosene radiant. I wanted a diesel radiant but it was overkill for a garage. Here is my thread. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=48014

    The Comfort Furnace Infrared Heater?

These are the high end, but if you have a large shop its the way to go. Watch the video for some serious education. http://www.val6heater.com/moviefullscreen.htm http://www.val6heater.com/ I got a cheaper home owner version for $175 that is kind of a poor knock off, and it still rocks. The...

OK here is what I chose to heat the shop this winter.

Yeah, I have a wood pile that can keep me going for two years but I just cant have the wait time, with this I can flip a switch and have a small Sun next to the work area in no time flat.

    The Comfort Furnace Infrared Heater?

For 1k you can get a kerosene Infra red heater that will use little fuel and make lots of heat. FWIW

OK here is what I chose to heat the shop this winter.

Well, it puffs once on ignition, and of course on the cool down cycle it can make a smell when new, but after the second burn cycle it smells fine at shut down. I would not use it in a house, its clean burning, just not that clean. It has a cool down cycle that runs after you flip the switch for...

OK here is what I chose to heat the shop this winter.

Its rated at 70k on the Remington and less on the one pictured I think the remmington is just rated higher because the fan is always on.. I wanted a Val6 but wow they are overkill for a garage and super expensive.

OK here is what I chose to heat the shop this winter.

I got one of these with the "Remington" name on it at Menards for $175, it uses Kerosene and does have a fan, but is really a radiant heater and it is much much quieter than my salamander was, it really cranks out heat that stays around much better than the forced air type of salamander. I...
