    Fixture placement over barn doors

I have one of them mounted over the smaller door and absolutely love it. The low light keeps it so you and see things but when you get close I have it set on medium and it feels like the perfect amount of light for getting in and out of the garage. I will bet the 2nd one hung sometime this week.

    Fixture placement over barn doors

Thanks for the detailed reply. I actually think that for my situation and what I want to accomplish these are going to be almost perfect. I am in a rural acreage neighborhood and the building is relatively close to the road. The persistent low level light with motion sensor will be ideal from...

    Fixture placement over barn doors

I picked up a couple of these to use above the doors on my building and want input on the placement. This is the southern facing section of my barn so I think the solar lights will work perfect for me my only concern is the positioning on the building. I am thinking that roughly centered about...

Home use MIG welder options in the $600 +/- $300 range

Excellent point. These are just big enough to be costly if shipping is needed for warranty work!

Home use MIG welder options in the $600 +/- $300 range

Thanks for all the replies. Looking over the suggestions it appears the YesWelder and the PrimeWeld machines might be geared a bit more towards someone like me with very limited experience. Both seem to offer 120/240 machines that will provide more flexibility for their use. Another bonus is...

Home use MIG welder options in the $600 +/- $300 range

Primeweld and Everlast certainly seem to be popular choices and should be all I need. I will take a look at their Facebook groups as well.

Home use MIG welder options in the $600 +/- $300 range

I have access to 240v in my shop and have about 3 acres here so I have a little tractor and implements that there will likely be the need to wed on some at some point.

Home use MIG welder options in the $600 +/- $300 range

The other lengthy MIG welder thread here kinda went off the tracks so I am starting another. I am looking to weld up several steel grates to make some heavy duty gabion baskets. If this first attempt works as well as I hope I will likely be making several more over time to help deal with the...

changing/flushing hydraulic fluid from lines on dump trailer

No filter on the system unless there is a screen on the intake side of the existing pump. I figure that gravity and a little coaxing will get enough of the fluid out that I will be OK. If I get ambitious I can always raise and lower the bed with by front end loader to help push the fluid in...

changing/flushing hydraulic fluid from lines on dump trailer

My trailer is a DA single cylinder. I saw that in your thread and that is what got me thinking about how exactly I would remove all of the existing fluid. I am thinking that I might just take all the the fittings and let gravity get most of what is in the cylinder out. A little compressed air...

changing/flushing hydraulic fluid from lines on dump trailer

That is where I am. It has lived a very easy life but while I have it apart I figure I should flush out what is in the lines as good as reasonably possible and add some fresh hydraulic fluid. Any tips on how best to flush something like this?

changing/flushing hydraulic fluid from lines on dump trailer

Thanks Larry. That is some excellent information. Unfortunately the manufacturer of my trailer is no longer in business and the original paperwork does not indicate what type of fluid they used. It is 10 years old and from day one I have thought the fluid smelled like ****** fluid which I know...

changing/flushing hydraulic fluid from lines on dump trailer

I have a 5X10 dump trailer that the pump started leaking badly on when it had any type of load on it last week. After some research I have ordered an entire new pump, motor and reservoir assembly for it that should be a direct bolt in replacement. How do I best get as much of the current...

    High bay lights - menards

Does anyone have any input on how many of those would you be comfortable running on a single switch? I picked up 6 of them today to use as general purpose lighting in the 30X48 building I have with 14' ceilings that should be done in the next couple of months.

Good finish for a solid core door workbench?

Here are a couple of good inexpensive options. Hardboard cut to size and either held in place with some hardwood trim around the edges of the door or just held on with good old carpet tape. Another good option that can be held on in using either of the methods above is to use some close out...

    Festool Meets A "Mechanic"

I am looking forward to your thoughts Ryan. I am probably about 90% woodworking and 10% mechanical shop work here. I am however just getting into more of the Festool products myself but I am always interested to see how other people use it and how they might approach things differently. If you...
