Mca ca or AC2 treated for post frame?

I'm building a 24x24 post frame garage in N.E. ohio and I need to buy posts. I have the holes dug and footers poured, the posts will sit on the footers and be backfilled with dirt. What is the best treated lumber for this application? I can't use multiple 2x6s it must be either 6x6 or 4x6 per...

Cheap 16ft garage doors, are they junk?

Thanks for the input guys. I feel better about going with a 16ft door now. I think I will go with a insulated now for sure and add struts to stiffen it up. Do you just add a single strut in the middle or would it be better to put one on every run of panels?

Cheap 16ft garage doors, are they junk?

Its going to be a post frame garage so i'd al garage look. If it was an out building away from my house I would go with the sliding door.

Cheap 16ft garage doors, are they junk?

I am just getting ready to dig holes for a 24x24 post frame garage and I was set on a 16' door until I read the reviews on them and how they bend and fold in the center. I was looking at Clopay(home depot) Pella(lowes) and Ideal door(Menards). The reviews all are very bad. I was just looking at...

Best base material for post frame concrete slab?

I thought about using grindings but never heard of anyone using them under concrete. I just put them down for a driveway to the garage and I agree they compact well and are easy to spread. How long ago did you pour on them? How is it holding up?

Best base material for post frame concrete slab?

Some topsoil. I know topsoil is not ideal but id have to dig out another 2+ feet to get it all out. Its kind of a mix of dirt and topsoil, but its packed like concrete from running the tractor on it for several hours.

Best base material for post frame concrete slab?

I live in a frost area and have heard several different options on base material for the concrete floor but what works best? I just talked to a reputable builder that said if its a dry area to put down bank sand and if its a wet area prone to holding water to use pea gravel. I heard #57...

Best tractor implement for leveling ground?

Plan is to level it, dig the holes and build the garage then add fill, and gravel and compact every 4" cement at a later time.

Best tractor implement for leveling ground?

Boxblade it is. I know they recommend a 4ft for a subcompact but I can borrow a 5ft from a friend so hopefully the little bx can pull a 5ft scraper.

Best tractor implement for leveling ground?

I'm getting ready to build a 24x24 post frame garage and I need to level the ground. I have a sub compact 2370 Kubota 2370 with a loader and the ground is a foot high at the high point(front corner) the back two corners are level with each other and the other front is 6" lower than the high...

    Backfill for pole barn posts???

I wish I could go this route but code won't permit the posts to just be anchored to piers. The posts must be 48" beneath finish grade sitting on 22"w x 11" thick piers.

    Backfill for pole barn posts???

I haven't started the build yet, its far to wet to even think about stripping the topsoil off right now. I am just trying to get input on backfilling the holes. I understand why you never incase the posts in concrete, I have to pour 22"w x 11"d footers in the holes per code to set the posts on...

    Backfill for pole barn posts???

What are you guys doing for backfill after the posts are set on the footers? I know you want something that compacts well but what is best to keep moisture to a minimum on the buried part of the post? I assume topsoil is not the best option so is fill dirt the best option or stone? How about...

    New post frame garage questions.

Great answers I'm learning a lot. I have my own tractor and can remove it myself so down to clay it is. I keep reading people debating putting sand in as fill, how would you compact sand? am I missing something? One more question: when I put my driveway in I scraped the top layer off and put 4"...

    New post frame garage questions.

Do I just need to take the vegetation off or go deeper? My area seems to be topsoil for about a foot or two then clay under it. I am pretty sure the code calls for 6" of gravel but doesn't state if 6" of earth needs removed or you can build the area up. My thinking was go down 6" so the stone is...

    New post frame garage questions.

Ok thanks for the replies. What is a good stone to put down that I can have concrete poured on later? I will have a contractor do the concrete work but I'd like to put the stone down so they have minimal prep work.

    New post frame garage questions.

I am planning on building a 24x?? not sure on the depth quite yet and have never built one before. I have several questions and would like some opinions from others with experience so I will be asking several questions so I will start at the bottom of the building and work my way up. My first...
