I don’t really have any information to contribute, other than great looking job you’re doing. And the FrankLee is absolutely top notch. He’s been helping me do some retrofitting to my 70’s Craftsman and he has encyclopedic knowledge! Very helpful!

Not a bad idea there if a come across one. I had a VFD on my Wells-Index Mill and I absolutely loved it. No gear changes and no belt changes. Just had to run a piece of 12/2 romex inside a conduit. That’s the way to go for the smaller sized motors.

I did get the conversion done. I am thinking I might remove the top fastest location from both pulleys. The belt guard may fit then. The motor pulley definitely needs to be down a bit more. Going to have to pull it off to do that. But the Amazon pulleys both fit and work with minimal work...

I agree I have a combo lathe mill so if I’m in the middle of a lathe operation I don’t want to break down my setup for that. Maybe one day I’ll have a dedicated machine for each.

Oh yes I have because having all those speed causes the belt size to be shrunk. This causes the lack of belt wrap which spins. Most 1/2 and larger bits require 300 and under rpm. I have a very expensive set of silver and demming bits. And in my shop having a Mill, lathe, mig with spool gun, I...

I did try the 6 inch pulley and after a min or 2 the motor started to smoke so I shut it down ASAP. Does anyone think I need to replace it now? It smoked lightly for a minute or so… It still works but the amperage has gone up from 145 to 175 so I’m thinking I need to replace it…

I am installing a mega fuse and also a timer for the motor fan for added cooling. After a week of use it seems to be holding up. I am trying to swap the pulleys for a 6 to see if that helps.

Also does anyone know what fuse/breaker to use? The motor at max psi is pulling around 145 amps. So maybe a 200 amp breaker or mega fuse?

I did my compressor and Nathan installed. It’s a little messy but now that it works I will be cleaning it up. This thing puts out a ton of air. The Nathan Airchime eats a TON of air!! Any suggestions to clean it up some?
