New addition not uniform with old roof

@bradpac - The wall height is inline with the top of the existing garage wall. They actually cut the top plate of the existing garage to rest these trusses on top. The new wall is inline with that height.

New addition not uniform with old roof

@bad_idea - This is what I am going with. They are going to extend it down and the overhang will be 2' instead of 1' As far as the drawings go I'm getting static from the architect stating that the truss co. needs to have a field engineer measure on site. I can't imagine every truss co sends...

New addition not uniform with old roof

@ducksface - the architect came up with the design. The final picture has a porch on the front of the house. All the garage doors will be the same height. My issue is with the gutters not being at the same level tying in both garages. @Stuart in MN - yes the overframe will carry over from...

New addition not uniform with old roof

Looking for some opinions with this. I have a 20x25 garage addition. I thought the roof lines would be uniform so that the gutter from the existing garage would connect and flow through to the new garage. It doesn;t look like this is going to happen. Do you think it will still look ok with...

    20x20 Garage Expansion

So I do have 3 of the non runners already off site. The other 4 are in rotation, and then the one I'm rebuilding the trans for is in flight. If money was no thing, sure sell this buy something bigger, or keep this buy a piece of land and build a pole barn. If my current garage had a higher...

    20x20 Garage Expansion

So I hired an Architect. I think someone previously mentioned the going rate was around $2,000. He said it would be under $2500 for the plans. This is also including a covered porch which he thought would help offset the additional garage and bring everything together. He said without the...

    20x20 Garage Expansion

Spoke with a builder/designer today. Saw what he did on a similar house. Spouting off exactly what others have said. Keep the roof line the same, add a gable to the front. Move it fwd 4ft, make it a 20x24. He also gave the bad news of 55k for that job, but ill wait to get the official quote.

    20x20 Garage Expansion

First off let me say thank you for all the constructive criticism and different views. 1. The reason for the garage door is that I do have a lot of vehicles 6 in operation, 3 need restoration, 1 just needs a trans rebuild (mainly aircooleds). I currently have a 4 post lift in the right bay and...

    20x20 Garage Expansion

Let me see if I can take better pic of the outside tomorrow and photo shop sketch 1. Talking with a builder today said the run around 40k so my 30k was a a pipe dream. I have an existing side door so I probably won't break the wall in between. I might even step it fwd a ft or 2 to see how...

    20x20 Garage Expansion

I'm in MD. It was going to be 30k 3 years ago for a 15x20 when I had some bids put in. That was just a same height roof though. Can't imagine it would be 25% more. If anything people might need money and would bid under another competitor.

    20x20 Garage Expansion

Thanks all. Looking into getting a prof architect draw up some plans. Here are a few more ideas people have kicked around. Unfortunately the property line is about 12ft off the back edge of my proposed 20x20 so there is no moving back further. Also the space behind the garage will only allow...

    20x20 Garage Expansion

Can you all give your opinion on something I would like to do? I am looking to add more garage space to my house. I have the room next to my current 20x20 to add another 20x20, but will my house overall look strange? I have seen it done on other houses in my neighborhood, BUT the original...

Creative ideas on expansion of garage

The shingles were just replaced back in 2014 :( My concern with option 2 is the overall look - garage being longer than the house itself, lol I will need to move the util box which was quoted around $3k. I was going to contract it out and it was coming in around $30k for a 15x20 which I...

Creative ideas on expansion of garage

The only issue with the L shape is the BRL towards the back corner. I need to stay at least 12 ft from the edge of the property. So the "L" shape would have the corner cut to allow for that. Enough room for a walkway between the two boxes, but probably not enough for a car. The goal is to...

Creative ideas on expansion of garage

Hey all, I'm trying to decide on how to make more garage space by adding an addition to my current setup. Right now I have a 2 story colonial with an attached 2 car garage 20x20. Behind the garage sits an open space of 14'x20.' I also have space next to my garage to build a 15x20 or possibly...

    Cost to build addition Maryland

Sorry 20 x 15, tied into existing 20x20 garage, 9x7 door, not finished, electric run - yes, 3 walls would need to be erected, 6/12 pitch roof matching current roof pitch, scissor trusses.

    Cost to build addition Maryland

I have gotten some recent quotes from contractors to build a 15x20 additional garage bay onto my 2 car garage. Looking like $27-28k. Does this seem reasonable? I was thinking it should be more like $20k. Anyone in Maryland recently had a garage built? Thanks
